IDENTIFYING POTENTIOMETERS (Can someonehelp?)

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

I have just bought a 2nd hand Novation NOVA (analog modeling synth) and have to replace

the potentiometers. How can I know what type of potentiometers to buy unless Novation tells me?

I have contacted them but this is taking too long. I have no experience with this, so please help.

Thanks in advance! ;D

Welcome aboard! There are probably some kind of part number on the pots, otherwise you can measure the resistance with a multimeter. Hope that helps!

Well, I will try and find some kind of number on them. I read that these are called "rotary encoders" because

they are digital, sending MIDI etc. Can those also be measured with a multimeter? By the way I dont even

know what a multimeter is and how to use it but should not be hard to use I guess :)

Will let you know about what happened. I hope I can tell the difference between pots and encoders.

Anyone any other suggestions?
