Doug Wellington
I'm building and modifying an MB-808 (http://www.eight-oh-eight.org), which is a TR-808 clone with a drum-machine optimized version of the MB SEQ v3 built in. The MB-808 is not set up to use the dual displays like the MB SEQ v3, so I'm designing an add-on to it that will include the two LCDs, a row of encoders, and optionally LEDs and switches. Does something like this have any usefulness outside of the MB-808 project?Doughttp://www.analognotes.com/mb808
TK.
Hi Doug,I will get a MB-808 kit as well, and I'm planning to create a branch of the MBSEQ V3 firmware which will be optimized for drum sequencing. On the other hand especially this version will *not* support a LCD, since most people want to left it out, and accordingly the whole user interface shouldn't rely on it. In addition it would create an imense extra effort at my side, if I would have to maintain a version which has a totally different workflow - therefore I prefer a clear seperation between MBSEQ V3 and the MB-808 variant. So, what I want to say: it's great that you want to work on an alternative firmware, and you could benefit from my variant, but I'm sure that it won't be available before I got the kit and built the hardware by myself.Best Regards, Thorsten. It will take me some time to finish building everything myself. (I have designed a desktop case for the MB-808 and I'm getting prices to see if other people will join me for a group buy.) I am also planning to build a control surface and MB sequencer for the Introspectiv 9090 and I want to use this same LCD setup for that too...Doughttp://www.analognotes.com/mb808
stryd_one
a drum-machine optimized version of the MB SEQ v3 built in.Oh damn, I didn't get into it because it was going to be 2.4. D'oh! Great to hear it's getting the upgrade too!
