  1. Yep, thx for the explanation I thought the trimpot was a kind of offset not a coefficient.

my mistake was trying to set up the trimpot while I’ve values already defined for step 1v, 2v ,... once I setup all the value to zero again calibration was easy and now I got acceptable value for every channel.

is got a precision with 15-20 cent variation between octaves of a channel. Do you achieve more precise values on your side ?

    thx for the support

  2. Hi everybody,

I’ve finished my aout and everything seems to work as expected until I do calibration procedure:

i begin with the 5v step at 0v using the trimpot .

after that I do 1v, 2v, 3v, 4v steps and when I go back to the 5v step ( with zero calibration correction) the voltage isn’t a 0v anymore.... no matter how many I try to reproduce thoses step. I cannot have a précise calibration and my vcos aren’t tracking properly. ( I use bipolar calibration)

any help will be appreciated :)

  3. Thx for the answer TK !
I already use the PRESET ad a default SESSION  for the initial setup and it works easily .

What puzzle me is  he fact that

    • I have to reselect the PRESET each time I go to a new pattern.
    • If I change my mind about some instrument config (the channel for example) I've to edit each pattern to reflect that change

Is this the expected behaviour or am i missing something ?
I would expect that if I choose an instrument (PRESET) for a track It will be use for every new pattern unless I choose another instrument (PRESET) for a specific pattern?

Are PRESET defined per track or per pattern ?

Maybe the  'Save & Take over' feature could be a workaround for my first issue.

Sorry for the late reply but i try to avoid asking super dumb newbie question and  it took me times to explore the features and make a correlation between user manual with Wilba workflow and the new Midipy workflow;)

Thx again for the support and congrats for this amazing piece of hardware I really enjoy it !!!

    Take care

  4. Hi

I’ve a midibox seq v4+ and one thing I struggle with is that each time I switch to a new  pattern I have to reconfigure all the tracks setup (midi port, midi channel, track length).

i probably miss something but is there a way to define the track setup globally or even better, per session ?

i try to search on the wiki, and on the forum but didn’t have any luck

i don’t mind editing some files directly on the SD card if it is the way to go but all I’ve tried do not works:/

    thx for any suggestions

  5. Hi !

Speaking of drum tracks, would it be possible to define one midi channel per instrument/drum and ( maybe with sort her track length?) a note parameter ?

I also search in the forum but I think no one has ever ask it so I take the risk ;)

would it be possible in the future to have more than 16 active tracks  ... I now I probably ask for too much :p

    @Dimduj

just a two quick answers, probably not everything covered:

    * SHIFT on the new v4+ frontpanel equals the SELECT button on the old one - in this context, if you have a look at the handbook: http://ucapps.de/midibox_seq_manual_m.html and search for "SELECT" (with case sensitive search!) you will see all the context-specific features it enables, just as an example, in the track transpose screen, SHIFT switches between Octave and Semitone transposition selection

    * Follow Mode (also when not recording) can be enabled by pressing the MENU + EXIT buttons simultaneously, it should work all the time. When it is off and you are recording, the display should jump to the step range only when new notes are "entered" i think, so i'd recommend to use the standard "follow" feature by just pressing MENU + EXIT.

    Many greets and enjoy!
    Peter

    Thx Peter !

  7. Hi !

i’ m exploring the features of the midi box seq v4+ and I got some questions. Sorry because it is probably noob’s questions but I didn’t find informations on the docs... hope it is the good thread ;)

What is the purpose of the  MEC “Shift”  button of the seq v4+ ?

Is their a way to just copy a specific trigger/param. What if I just copy/paste the accent trigger but not the gate trigger between tracks ?

How can activate the step forwarding when I do not record ? When playing with live mode activate the seq do not jump to steps over 16. Is this the normal behaviour?

when in recording with live mode activated, the seq will. It  jump to next steps ( 17-32) only once.is their a way to activate the forwarding not only the first time.

    Cheers

  8. Hi Guys,

I've finished my midibox seq V4+ few weeks ago but didn't time to post until now ;)

Thx to latigid on for his awesome support and TK for the amazing software. I’ve almost scratched the surface but it is above my expectations on every aspect !!

I really enjoy the build !!! and here is some feedback about my build:

About the video build form Hawkeye:

    * Super awseome work, i cannot imagine the time it took. It is enough detailed, Hawkeye's voice is pleasant and enjoyed and that's great :p. I learned some tricks during the video so :+1:
    * I admit I'm not a video guy and prefer to read. So maybe take this with a pinch of salt. I always tend to skip some minutes on video tutorial and you can miss some precious informations (5mm nuts/ 3mm nuts)
    * It will be a great to have high res pictures of boards on important steps like checkpoints contro, MIOS tests, etc ...
    * I would prefer smaller video and a playlist: this is easier to find a precise step of the build (granluarity of video head isn't easy on a 2hours long video)

    About documentation:
It could be great to have a documentation of common pittfals:

    • Do not solder encoder before led matrix,
    • Do not mout header that wrap 745 to soon
    • 5mm 3mm nuts when connecting the board (they are in the same and If Pay attention to
    • Do not solder sd card header without attaching the USB board first to be sure get enough clearance.

A screenshot of all the ribbon cable to do with length and pin count and precise header orientation would be really usefull.

I wish I had paint sides of mathias with black to avoid light beed on sides.
Now my mathias do not pop out and I'm stuck with light bleed. especially when you are not exactly in front of your midibox (I've made a video bellow eight first I put tape no bleeding button 8 to 16 no tape => bleeding).
This is espacially true with cusom key caps (Thx Antichambre I love them
   )

I will upload pictures of my awesome SEQ a little later but had to resize them first....

    Cheers

  9. Mmmhhh cannot help further sorry :/

One last advice, Before soldering mathias switch take time to recover them with electrical tape or paint sides with a marker to avoid light bleed between them.

i was really annoying with light bleed between steps.

Caps are hard ( impossible ? ) to remove once placed and it took me lot of time to place tape to isolate light with caps installed.

    Cheers

  10. SOLVED

Had to delete midi setup in Mac Os as described in this page: http://www.ucapps.de/midibox_seq_manual_in.html

I've an issue uploading the midibox seq app to the coreboard using MIOS.
Whatever I upload projet.hex of midibox_ng_v1_036 or midibox_seq_v4_095,  I cannot see other midiport than the MIOS32.
I rescan midi devices but no success, rebooting MIOS,... dissconnect USB ....)
    Is that normal ?

I'm not sure I get the right files.
Sorry I'm really new with the midibox seq and I've few ressource to check about seq V4+. I never know what docs about seq 4 are applicable for the V4+ version
Hawkeye vidéo is great but a little blurry regarding his monitor screen ;)
I run MIOS on Mac OS on High Sierra 10.13.6.

After uploading  midibox_ng_v1_036 I can load seq_l but the only available midi are MIOS32.
I can browse the SD card and see existing file using MIOS Tools.

  11. Thank you so much !

I’ve not finished but the rest of the build has been easier. It’s fun that I fail on a simple trough hole ressistor with smds and super flux led ;)

I ve done a lots of other project such as shruthi, lxr,.. but I really enjoy the project so far because their is many new assembly technics !

See you at the next issue ;)

  12. Hi everybody,

    First post :)

trying to desolder r5 from the usb connector pcb, I removed the pads... no way to solder the new resistance. Where should I connect ( shortcut) the resistance ?are schematics available somewhere ?

is this resistor needed to run the seq or is it just a led’s ressistor ?

    Congrats for this amazing project!
