Thorsten you are doing great
keep on bringing new ideas.
I must say I am little dissapointed of leaving the idea of LCD ASCI and going to graphic LCD. My point is that graphic lcds are not that bright and it will be way harder to recognise the characters displayed in the screen from a distance. (I admit I have minor problem with my vision :) )
Ok to the point someone sayed he found an LCD 2X80
where? and how much?
And is it possible with the current driver 2X40 to drive the 2X80 LCD.
Best....

Some hints please ???
up to 64 buttons and 64 LEDs can be connected to the core module
Is that possible with current DIN DOUT or a new version comming soon?
Thanx again

Sorry Thorsten I didnt mean to ruin your surprise:(
Anyways I feel more than happy to hear that you already worked out the emulation. I hope that you release the schematics and the firmware soon.
I think this will be the best christmas gift from you for all the people in the forum.
Mind that cubase sx works with logic control (called mackie HUI but in fact is LC)
Best regards
Dimitris

Hello there,
By default the 16 banks on midibox 16 are assigned as follows:
bank 1 to bank 8 channel 1 cc from 0 to 127 in segments of 16
bank 9 to 16 channels 1 -16 with cc from 1 to 7 constant in each bank eg bank9 cc 0 channel 1-16
if you are using cubase sx there is a ready to use script in http://users.forthnet.gr/ath/d-gramma/Index.mht
M$ internet explorer needed :(

On the latest firmware there is the following description:
Some words to the "bb" (BankButton) variant: it uses two bank buttons instead of the four bank switches on RB2, RB3. Two additional buttons on RB0 and RB1 enables you to send double note events (great for controlling programs like Cubase, Logic, Cakewalk via MIDI Remote).
My question is if there is a problem if I combine in one button the RB2 and RB0 and in onother one the RB3 and RB1?
I already made the connections and it seems it doesnt hurts. But if there is a possible mulfanction arising from that I would like to know.
Best Regards
Dimitris

I updated my scripts for Cubase SX.
The old one is the midibox16v2 All controls mapped to cc 0-15
The new one uses 13 banks on my midibox 16+ and works with the firmware with the BB code (the midibox needs some mods as well)
For using the last script with midibox 16E you need to use the learn key in the generic remote setup and learn the cc's for the bank INCREASE and bank DECREASE (last at the configuration)
Enjoy

If I am right the only problem with the usb is that is very difficult to get the chips required in low quantities therefore imposible for diy applications.
A nice convertion is to buy a usb to serial cable for around 15 euros. the only drawback is that you will have to install the drivers for both the cable and the serial :(

About the to do list regarding the midibox 64: I hope it will be possible to add the option for a biger LCD say a 2x40 and that will be even nicer if this was available for motorfader extention like i saw it someware in the forum.
I am waitting for the first release of the motorfader firmware.
Best regards

Hello Thorsten,
I wanna make a request if possible (maybe others find it useful as well) so:
Is it possible for the midibox range to add the code needed so that the display mode can be memorized eg time code comes up in the every start of the box. I think it will need only one register that you are already using for the dispaly to be saved in the rom and recalled in the start up process.
Just an idea but if you plan to implement it please do it so for the midibox 16 as well.

Also to figure out the cc's of every instrument check:

This topic has been moved to [link=http://www.midibox.org/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=greek;action=display;num=1031877331;start=0]Greek[/link] by Thorsten Klose.

A newer setup including support for VST istruments can be found at:

The eplanation about how to use VST instruments and midibox is excellent. The only problems I realize are:
Total controled faders, buttons thru Midibox are 32.
Everytime you load an Instrument you need to create those relations in the control insert, unless if a default song is always loaded
As a guide for those who dont wanna mess up with the generic remote configuration I have post a file with the most usefull automation controllers check it out at

I dont think there is a 2x80 or anything greater than 4X40 I cant find any so the graphic LCD seems the best approach.
