Stigmata have you got the paper yet?
I can help you!
-
Thanks Thorsten! This looks great gonna apply it soon.
1 thing in your next update could you consider a "create random patch" function.
I am a bit lazy ;)
-
Use a heatgun and you will be amazed!
No joke.
-
Beutifulll!!!! Now i am afraid to post my pictures :D
Can you tell us where you bought the knobs?
-
No i have only 1 Bank Stick.
-
yes you should. Is midiox set to midi channel 1?
-
I have exactly the same problem.
I hope someone can follow up on this one!
-
Anyone?
-
Thanks pay-c,
I was on holiday so excuse my late responce.
The power is enough indeed so i will go for a new lcd.
Now that i am done with the unit (THANKS EVERYONE) i have the following if i make a patch i cannot save it. It is just being resetted to the int. What am i doing wrong?
I have 1 bankstick installed. On starting up id did the beep in a ladder sounds.
Thanks in advance,
Jef

Hi,
SIDplayer is another application, that can't coexist with MidiboxSID.
And you don't download, but play SID's on your computer with PlaySID or other ASID protocol compatible  player which then sends SysEx to control SIDplayer.
Bye, Moebius
LOL ok that clears things up. Thanks,
Jeffry

Yepp. Â :)
You might want to change the behaviour of that button. There is a marker in the main.asm for that. If you put it to 1 (it´s standard is 0) the link is enabled as you turn on. That way you don´t have to click it always as you turn on.
Thanks for the tip i will look for the documntation on the main.asm.
All sid's WORK woohooo. Thank you everyone. Time to wrap things up.
Only 1 question remains. If i wish to use the sid player app how do i load songs? Does it mess up the main sid program?
thanks
-
Well i am trying to get the last 3 sids to work.
I do seem to have a problem.
I click link button. I upload mios modded to 0X01 and after that i upload sid slave 1 link button is still on No reboot after upload. The slave does not work?
Am i doing something wrong? Is there a other way to get software on?
EDIT* i just used the code to open the link and then uploaded! Now sid 2 works :P.
But let sid 2 play link button must be enabled is this right?
-
Thanks for the tip Dave. I use the standard 470
If i don't like it i will tweak it.
Well now to put in the three other sid's i only have the 6581 but i hardly have noise. Maybe i have my system not loud enoug.
The only thing that needed to be done were switching buttons and led's + - . So i made alot of mistakes.
I only find that my lcd display is flickering on occassions. And the sync led is very weak but not when i add normal power to it.
p.s. the sid has a huge tweak factor in sound i luv it :)
-
YAY It was indeed a short!
Now the unit works. Well asside from some more little faults i have made. Like led's etc.
Dave and Thorsten thank you for helping me out finding the HUMAN bug :):):).
I will post if i find more things i cannot figure out.
thx again

Hi Dave,
I have tested. All buttons give 5,14V on pull up.
All rotary encoders give values that go to 4,something the voltage varies when i twist a knob.
I soldered in the links but i still have the same issue only when i press button 1 of J3 i get diffrent display. Nothing happens on lcd when i twist or press rotary or buttons.
??? ??? ???
Cheers,
Jef

Sorry Jef,
Your English is much better than my Dutch :-)
Well my dutch is to cry for as well ;)
OK, are you using PCB's from Mike or Smash or home made ??Mike's
I would check all the links are fitted first, don't forget the links on the track side of the board.I have not all links. I will add them.
Then with the chips removed, could you check that all the inputs are at 5V (they are pulled up by the 10K's)Can you explain this a bit more in detail?
Do you mean that every 10K resistor must have a voltage of 5V
Cheers,
Jef

HI Twin-X
Not sure what will happen with chips missing, the code in cs_menu_io_tables.inc looks for 9 chips.
As an experiment, you could recompile V1.6 with a reduced number of inputs or build the rest of the hardware.
Not sure though....Anyone else know ??
Dave
Hi Dave,
No i have phrased my story wrong.
I have 9 chips only the rest of the pcb is not stuffed (the last three that are available) i have 3 din pcbs. 2 Fully stuffed and the last one only 1 chip.

Hey Twin-X,
Noises from your SID......Great.
I would do the DIN stuff first and then the DOUT but it depends how your control surface is wired.
I 'always' leave out the chips first and then check power is in the right places at 5V. Once happy with the power supply, plug in the chips, (TK is there a DIN or DOUT test application ??)
Good Luck,
Dave
Hi Dave,
I connected J1 of DIN to J9 of Core
Pin 8 and 16 on all chips is 5.13V of the DIN
When i stuff all chips and power on synth then only the 1 st button of the DIN works (i followed the schematic and this is selection button 1 on J3)
Is it because my last DIN is not fully build? I only wired the 1st chip.
Cheers,
Jeffry
p.s. Thanks Mark420 for your kind words ;)

I would then suggest connecting the SID board with no chips fitted and check voltages on the shift registers and SID are correct. Don't forget when you connect the SID board that there is a wiring change for V1.7 (on the MIOS page somewhere)
IC1:Vcc(25) - IC1:Vss(14) = 5.18V
IC2:Vdd(16) - IC2:Vss(8) = 5.18V
IC3:Vdd(16) - IC3:Vss(8) = 5.18V
If all is well, the 74HC595's can be fitted and then load the SID interconnection test software. This can be used to check the shift registers are working correctly, I think there is a small 'bug' in that when you go from D7 to CS, D7 may stay active.Ok i have just tested the notes thing i hope this is not really nbecesarry but if so i will do the test
You can use the virtual keyboard of MIDI-Ox for this test. It can be activated via Actions->Keyboard. Then press some keys (Q W E R T) to play the notes.Yes i hear notes
Both of you thanks!
So what is the next step?
Connect the control panel?
First leds than buttons or should i do both?
-
I have a nice ready screen on my LCD (this is the third lcd the other two seem broke)
What is the next step?
Do i load setup_6581_with_cs.syx or do i load main.syx
Or must i solder the control panel wiring first.
Or shoud i stuff the SID before applying the sid files?
TIA

Hi Dave,
The mesuared values are:
IC1:MCLR(1) - IC1:Vss(12) = 5.18V
IC1:Vdd(11) - IC1:Vss(12) = 5.18V
IC1:Vdd(32) - IC1:Vss(31) = 5.18V
IC2"8" - IC2:"5" = 5.18V
Midi ox is giving this to me every 2 seconds:
