  1. Both, Here a little step by step on how to make a slider that controls the sid. session -> new session. (enter a name) -> Ok. Edit -> Edit matrix (shortcut F5 toggle edit mode). select a slider from 'Tools'. click twize on the orange line in the 'Action Editor' (if it isn´t visible click on the slider). select CC Controller change. select the CC (fx. 40 for Sids 1/2/3 Arpeggiator Rate) midi-port & midi-channel and click save. Hit F5 again to exit edit mode. It´s pretty much the same for buttons etc. Good luck!! let me know if there any trouble, im on my way to be and almost sleeping now so I might missed somthing.. js

  3. Havn´t seen it before, so thanks for the info!! :) So far i´ve just tried it out for a bit, but it seems like a very nice tool and it´s very easy to get it to talk to sid :). js

  5. I tried with 1 nF ones instead of the 6.8 for my 8085 to test if the filters were better. For me at least that wasn´t better. I was hoping that the cutoff would be spread a bit more on the slider, but it was almost the other way arround. (i have to move the fader alot to the left before the sound change.) I was thinking to try above 6.8 if im able to get my hands on them. If I do i´ll keep you posted. js

  7. Thanks alot for the crash course in pic programming! :) It really makes it esier to understand to get some known words on things. For now i´ve tried to make the changes and build the hex, and that works without any probs. Im going to build a ain module today then im able to experiment a bit more. I´ll let you know how it goes. :D js
  8. As i see it the number of three 470pF´s is right if you use the old Sid 6581 chip. If you use the never 8580 sid it´s suggested that you replace the two 470pF that´s listed as C1 & C2 with 6,8nF ones. As for the 1nF I think there´s a mistake in the parts list. When I bought the stuff for my sid I was one short of these, it seems like the parts list is missing one. How you find four 1nF´s I don´t know I only see two. Good luck getting this thing to work, it´s brilliant!!! js

  10. I have a few question about the examples in this post. First of all id like to say that im new to pic programming so my problem might be pretty simple. I was trying to add the code from TK´s 2nd exampel from this post to the sid_ain.inc. But when i compile it shows the following error messages: Error[113] *long path*\SID_AIN.INC 41 : Symbol not previously defined (SAVED_POT_NUMBER) Error[113] *long path*\MACROS.H 54 : Symbol not previously defined (SAVED_POT_NUMBER) Error[113] *long path*\SID_AIN.INC 55 : Symbol not previously defined (SID_CCSet) Does the symbol need to be defined in the sid_ain.inc file and if so,how do you do that? Or is the problem in other files? Or could it be my mplab that needs change in the configuration? Another question: I was wondering if you know a place where i can find a listing of the keywords of this programming language. fx that IFNEQ mean if-not-equal and so on. some of them im able guess but not all. Thanks for any help! :) Right now im unemployed after finishing my education as a computer-programmer. I think learning to program these things is a great way to spend my spare time. js
  11. That sounds great!! For me it´s the LCD that´s the hardest to get my hands on. But the Core kit sound interesting too. I made a minimal core on a vector board, and left out most of the connectors that I didn´t need for the sid. But im getting kind of hocked on making these toys so i´ll probaly need another core soon. ;) Pleace let me know when you are ready to sell a LCD, and how we sould make the deal. I think that money in a letter to you is the most easy way to do it. js
  12. That´s a very nice offer! :o I´d really like to take you up on that offer, if you are sure that you can spare one. (it would look very nice on my Sid) The price of 7 usd seems like a very good offer, but I want you to make sure that you don´t end up loosing money just to help out. That would be bad. :-/ btw: So far the nearest place to get them is Reichelt unfortunatly you have to buy for at least 50 Euro just to get them to sell to people in other countries. js
  13. hehe pay_c, same responce from me... ;)  I can´t even find a store in denmark that sells them. :-/ js
  14. I just finished My first TK sid synth (havn´t made a box for it yet) This thing is briliant!! ;D I cant wait to get this thing in a box and start playing for real. I still have a lot of work though, I wasn´t patient enhough to wait for the pcb´s so I made both sid & core on vector-boards. I made the core with the least connector nessary, so i´ll have a lot of work to get done when I get the time to make the control unit. ::) Anyways just wanted to say that there´s yet another TK sid synth in the world. And ones again: Thanks alot TK for sharing your hard work!! :-* js
  15. I went to the shop today and bought all the things for the Sid and floorboard :D Unfortunatly i made a mistake when I bought the LCD for the floorboard. I bought the common cathode ones instead of the common anode. (damn my stupid head..) Is there any simpel way to make these work and if not, is it possible to use the floorboard without the LCD (to get started.) ***********EDIT************ I tried it out and it does work without the LCD. ;) The only real problems i´ve had building the thing was when i missread the schematics for both the JDM and the floorboard. But now both things are working!! :D Thanks again for the help!! js
  16. Thanks alot!! I´ve already got the pic16F877 so I can get started right away. Now i´ve got something to play with until I get the pcb´s for the sid ready ;) js
  17. On the schematics for the floorboard it uses a Pic16F874. I´d like to know if it is possible to use an Pic16F877 instead, and if so is there need for any change in the Hw & SW. Thanks to all for any advice, and thanks to TK for sharing all the great work! :) js
  18. @ gilles You might want to read here: http://www.midibox.org/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=troubleshooting;action=display;num=1051041533 It sound like the same problem. (and the solution is there too :D ) Good luck!! (can´t wait to get my Sid going....) js
  19. I would probaly be interested. Right now i´ve bought one C64 im going to kill when I get the parts to make the Core and Sid module. But im pretty sure that i´d like to extend with a couple of Sid right after i´ve made the first one. :) As for the price I have to say that it´s very fair. The C64 i bought have cost me twize as much (got it with a tape and diskdrive..). There are not many C64´s around where I live. :( js
  20. TEN!??!! :o Woah! Ok I saw the picture of the slaughtered C64´s but ten, that almost crazy!! (read: wish it was me... ::) ) I can´t wait to build my first one (with a nice and cold 8580 btw...) :) js

    midi cable

Im pretty sure that the cable that you´ve got is the same as the one that came with my Miditech midi-keyboard.  As far as I can remember does my cable use pin 1 & 3 instead of 4 & 5 on the midi-jack. I think that they made it this way to save some $. They´ve left out the optoisolator and supplys the keyboard with power from the gameport. I guess it would work with another cable like this one: http://www.hardwarebook.net/cable/misc/midi.html Another thing, does you controller have a midimerger, if not you need two midi inputs (one for the keyboard and one for the controller) Hope that this could be any help to you! js

  23. Kent, Det ser sgu godt ud!!! ;D (hehe.. Somehow I got the impression that Kent is a fellow Dane.... Anyhow, very nice work!!) js
  24. Congrats!!! It´s sad hear about a malfunction Sid. I havn´t started my own yet But i´ll do as soon as I finish my final studie (the beginning of April.. :) ) I just got the samples today and I bought a C64 a couple of weeks ago (it´s still about 150km away from my home though...) so im almost ready to rock!! :D
  25. Thank you much for letting me know!! It´s a very nice toy!! js
