Hello, I'm a starter on electronics and MIDI. I'd started a MIDIBOX SID and finally i can get sound of it. But I got a feeling inside me that is telling me "You don't know almost nothing, learn, read,absorb" Can somebody recommend me a book to deeply understand MIDI and sysex ? Thanks.

Ok so you mean that it's better to build a MIDI to CV because you can control lots of parameters of you analog gear, and you can save midi sequences as patches, right ?

And what kind of utility you have with MIDI to CV ? I mean . . What is the point of transforming midi data to voltages ? Can you sync that ?

Ok I bought 1 Vibra 16 ISA. Now I know I'll get from it one YMF262 or one YAC512. How I know what card is carrying one of the two chips ? I mean, there are some cards who has one or other, two of them at the same board, or what ? I don't know that, so I don't know what to do right now. Thanks.

Hi, I can't get to stand how many chips are needed. I've got one sound blaster ISA, but I don't know If each card has 1 YMchip or more. And, how many chips you need ? 1 of 1 kind and 2 more of the other kind ?

Yestarday was an exasperating day trying to get an answer from here. I'm sorry, but I'm dedicating almost all the time I got to this project. It's normal that at some step I loose my nerves. Sorry again.

Well, can somebody help me finding the source info to work with SysEx ? Because I think I'm missing a lot of things here. Like . . . Once I upload an application, like the SID interconnection test, what I have to do to execute that application ? Is there any way ? Please explainme a little bit, I don't know how to guide myself this way. Thank you so much in advance. :)

Hi smash . . the problem it's solved now . . But now I want to know how to erase or quit or update the data you upload to a pic. Can you show me where's the information... I just can't find it after spending the whole evening ! Thanks.

Excuse me Thorsen, but i have been reading the SID walktrough and there's nothing explaining how to update or erase a program from the PIC . . . It is relevant if you upload an old MBSD firmware and you don't erase it from the PIC after the update ? I'm sorry for turning down your karma.-

Hi ! I finally uploaded correctly the mios v.1.8 and the MAIN.HEX file of the SID 1.5 firmware folder. Once this, the SID still not working or dropping that "drop tune". Can somebody tell me what I have to do know ? I heard something about the interconnection test but . . I can't find it. Thank you a lot. :)

I didn't know that with the new CORE modules provided by our main distributors ( Smash ) and ( MIke) you've to put the jumpers in to the programming conector. I thought that it was an old CORE config. I miss that ! Sorry for not reading the MIDI troubleshooting. Thorsen did it to avoid this kind of posts in the forum. So people, if you're looking this post, remember the MIDI troubleshooting info page! Thank you two for answer ! ;)

Hi, people . . . I've been trying to upload the MIOS to my main core module but It's just not responding. I checked up everything but it doesn't get any MIDI message sent by the MIOS studio. Maybe i missed something on the process. Thanks.

Ok, now I stand. Maybe I didn't install the right Java package. I will do it right know. Thanks !

Hi, I donwloaded the mios aplication, required to upload the SOand the SID soft to the PIC but, the documentation explains that It runs double clicking the .JAR file . . . well, I downloaded the .zip file wich contains the MIOS STUDIO and I can-t find any .JAR file in any directory. Can somebody help a bit here _ Thanks. :)

Ok perfect ! I'll go right tomorrow ! I'm so glad about the voltage. I'll need to fix the other SID module . . something is f***ed in there. Well I just want to say : You're the best, I'll come back soon arround here for bring some pictures !
