  1. I don't know about this one... If you want a cheap iron, i would stick with Weller. THX, Jason D
  2. For project consideration, here's e-switch's new tiny joystick... Documentation.... http://www.e-switch.com/pdf/JS1200.pdf Actually a multidirection button, but hey, it's tiny and I think it's cool. THX, Jason D
  3. you are correct!! just happens to be what i have around thx, JD
  4. Also, I have a ton of 500k pots laying around. To use them as 10k, I simply put a 10k across the contacts. The result is having a non-linear 10k, where most of the action is in the first third or so of the turn range. But it works quite well! THX, JD
  5. I use Genesolve 2004, which is so good, it's acutally illegal to manufacture! But somehow I am able to buy it every year. THX, JD
  6. if you plan on shorting... i highly suggest using a resistor between 1~10 ohms for a *little* protection thx, jd
  7. Panasonic has some great product at low prices, i like their pots, too. Here's a useful link to the DIGIKEY catalog page with more information: http://dkc3.digikey.com/PDF/T062/1367.pdf Hope this helps, Jason D
  8. Seems that my LCD brightness adjust IS working, I didn't think it was becasue the adjust range really wasn't doing much. I'm good! THX, JD
  9. TK, Attempted to program within 2 seconds of power-on. Several attempts, consistant results as noted above. Swapped my 2nd CORE_R4 processor to my #1 CORE_R4 (known good), and had the exact same issue. Also noted more current draw from the voltage regulator... a little warmer than usual. Looks like a partially dead processor. THX, JD
  10. I'm having the same issue. Checked all the values, made sure my cable was wired correct, and i'm not getting a backlight. THX, JD
  11. Has anyone experienced this message when communicating with the CORE? Taken from the MIOS HEX FILE UPLOADER ----------------------------------------- Received error code 0B: MIDI IN Overrun Error Sending block 00005500-000055FF Error: Received unexpected Upload Request Sending block 00005500-000055FF Received error code 0B: MIDI IN Overrun Error Aborting after 3 errors Since my 1st CORE programmed normally, this was quite unexpected. I'll poke around the board a little more and see if there's more information. THX, JD
  12. **********UPDATE*************** Everything is cool now. I uploaded the MIOS 1.9 updater, and it worked. Next I uploaded the MIOS for M64, and everything is finally normal. Did not work when I uploaded M64 first, I had to do the update, and then M64. I hope this documentation can help someone in the future. THX, JD
  13. TK , Thanks for the advice. It magically started running normal, it was quite a relief to see your name on screen! So, to future users who experience this problem, jiggle the wires a bit. Turns out my wiring was correct. Having none of my other modules connected, it's constatly sending out midi messages, since nothing is grounded. That means everything is good! Time to finish those ribbon cables! And more pix soon. Cheers, Jason D
  14. I'm having the exact same problem, what was the solution? Noticed that when i probe the LCD pins (RS, E, D0~7,etc), there's nothing. Voltage is good, but I don't see any data or enables. THX, JD
