  1. I ordered the rest of the parts for the cs, power supply, and second opl3 board. All I need now is a case.
  2. i got my core pcb in the mail today. So, hopefully I will be able to test out my fm tomorrow. I am going to use jsynthlib for now, until I learn how to properly use the fm. Its my first time using a synthesizer, but I plan on building a complete cs soon.
  3. Here are some pages I have on active mixers http://sound.westhost.com/project30.htm http://www.electronics-lab.com/projects/audio/025/ I plan on designing/building my own mixer based on the esp stuff this summer.
  4. I am still trying to track down a second yac512. I had originally bought 2 sound cards on ebay, but one of the sellers said he lost the card ;-D. So, once i find a second card and actually receive it in the mail I will order another opl3 board. Hopefully it will happen before the new batch of core boards is done so everything can be shipped together.
  5. I finished my edrum today, but its not exactly working yet, (maybe that means its not finished?).
  6. yeah, save a few for me, i'll buy them. It turns out i'll need a second fm without a control surface that i'll control with sysex messages from this one. I'm still working out all the details and will email you when i'm ready.
  7. so, is there an easy way to fix this?
  8. I also finished the din board today. Thats about all i can do for now, as i'm waiting for pcbs from smashtv. Anyway, I need to start ordering parts for the cs.
  9. Do you mean the trace that goes behind pin 16 of the upper ymf to somewhere behind the lower ymf? Also, I think I might get rid of the pins, because it doesn't look like i put them in straight. I'll try taking the pictures with less light, because right now the solders look horrible. stryd_one: i know i can, but i need to resize them. I'll also get a new dyndns account, so that i will actually be able to see the pics in the preview.
  10. the opl3 module has been populated. I posted updated pics, check the link above. I will work on the din module tomorrow.
  11. I started building my fm a few days ago. So far, I have managed to get 2 opl3s (broke a pin on the first opl3 i got off), and 2 yac512s off of some soundblasters. I have also mounted the opl3 and 2 yac512s on the fm pcb. I will post more pictures as I progress. My dyndns account seems to have been deleted. So for now you can see the pics at http://75.68.225.205/fm/
  12. ok, guess I will have to build both then! ;-D I'll let you guys know when my edrum starts working. hopefully I did everything correctly and all i have to do is pop the pic and it will "just work" (yeah right ;-p ) then I can order the parts for the fm right away!
  13. so if i modify my drumset a little, maybe get rid of 2 toms, then i should be fine right? also, I was wondering if I would still be able to create loops to play along with on the same synth, or would that be too many instruments for 1 opl3?
  14. So, i have been working on an edrum (www.edrum.info) for the past couple of months and it is almost done, just waiting for a pic, new crystal (broke the old one ;-|), and lcd before i can test it out. In the mean time I figured I would decide what I am going to build next. Basically, I have been thinking about building a midibox fm to synthesize the sounds for data coming from the edrum, but what from I understand, the percussion channel only supports 2 bass drums, 1 snare, 1 tom, 1 hi hat, and 1 cymbal. My final set, will have 2 bass drums, 5 toms, 1 snare, 1 hi hat, and 3 cymbals. So, I am wondering if I would need more than 1 fm module, or if I can configure the percussion channel for this in software. If it is not possible to do this should I look at the midibox sid, or just use a computer with something like toontrack's dfh or fxpansion's bfd?
  15. i am going to build one then. i found a guy that lives locally with a bunch of c64 and 128s for sale. gonna see if i can meet him over the weekend. my edrum is coming a long and will hopefully be done by the end of nov.
  16. hi! I am currently in the process of building a 22 channel edrum (www.edrum.info). The edrum is basically a trigger to midi converter module. I was wondering if anyone has used an edrum with a sid or fm module. I am really interested in building my own midibox after I finish the edrum, so I don't need to use a computer with the edrum. I do not know very much about midi hardware, but I have been playing the drums for about 5 years, and have taken electrical engineering in my school. I built an amplifier using vacuum tubes before too.
