  1. I'm offering for sale a spare set of MB-6582 control surface parts. This consists of what was offered by Wilba in his Aussie group buy): 50x Switches 15x Encoders 15x Red Waldorf Knobs 1x 4x20 Red/Black LCD 120x red LEDs AU$97.35 for the lot (which is what I paid at the time), postage extra (should be less than AU$10.00 anywhere in Australia).
  2. Cool I'll use a 1K one instead. Just realised my 1.1Ks are 1/2 Watters and are too big. Thanks again!
  3. Hey Guys, I'm finally finding time to work on the MB-6582... I appear to have lost the 1.2K resistor that is supposed to go in R6_CORE1. I have some spare 1.1K resistors floating around, can I use this or is the 1.2K value critical? I really don't fancy going down to the shops to buy a single resistor... Thanks in advance!
  4. Parcel was on my doorstep today :D Perfect timing as I have just started the base board's construction. Thanks heaps Wilba!
  5. Hi, While I haven't yet started work on the MB-6582 panel I have been thinking about it for a bit... The Front Panel Express panels are very nice but outside my budget. With a decent column-mounted drill, it should be reasonably straightforward to drill all the required holes in the aluminium panel that comes with the PACTEC case. For the LCD hole, I had a look around for square drill bits but no luck... ;) An alternative that has worked for me in the past is to drill a hole big enough to accomodate a fine-toothed jigsaw blade, then use that to cut the straight lines of the LCD cut out. With a steady hand (and possibly a bit of filing if required), it is possible to get pretty good results. As for the labeling, I have had some pretty good results in the past using transparent ink-jet compatible label material (such as http://www.officeworks.com.au/retail/products/Office-Supplies/Paper-Labels-and-Envelopes/Labels/Inkjet-Printer-Labels/Clear-Inkjet-Labels/AV936008). Colours other than black tend to let a bit of light through, which is reflected by the brushed aluminium of the panel to good effect. A clear coat of sprayable PU varnish on top ensures good longevity. This technique also allows you to get quite creative with the use of colours. Think of it as the poor man's Lazertran...
  6. You Fools! :D The pixels have spoken. Photo is shopped.
  7. Well I haven't heard anything from Wilba so I hope I am not the one holding him up :D
  8. Probably a bit too late for advice, but here it goes anyway... ;) I have had some reasonably good results with A4 transparent inkjet labels from Office Works, finished with a few coats of clear acrylic varnish. Because the inks are translucent, the technique only works well if the surface on which the label is stuck is not too dark.
  9. Update: got a reply. :D On Fri, Jan 30, 2009 at 9:17 AM, Levon <xxxxx@xxxxx.com> wrote: Hey julien, sorry for the delay, parts are all here I just need to count put the optocouplers and then I can send them out Hopefuly will get that done early next week , Levon
  10. Hey guys, Just a heads up on this... Paid about 60 bucks but still haven't received anything... The last I heard from Levon was on Jan 5th: "sorry there will be a bit of a delay, i am moving house this week (the parts are being delivered to my parents place tomorrow with any luck) but my internet will be cut off... i will get the parts out as soon as i can once i have moved house." Nothing since. I have emailed him, but no reply... Presumably he would have finished moving house by now, and if the part were due to arrive on the 6th he would have had ample time to dispatch them??? Also, according to his midibox profile, he last logged on 2009-01-12. So he must have some kind of internet access... I am willing to give Levon the benefit of the doubt, I just hope we haven't been rick-rolled here ???
  11. Thanks for organising this Wilba (and so many other things). I've added myself to the list, and donated a beer through Paypal; that's how grateful I am :D
