  1. errr well...... i got a local engraver to fill them. I was having a rear panel made for my 9090 project build so i got them done at the same time. For what its worth, he struggled a bit as there is no depth to the engraving (laser etching?). I'll certainly ask the question as to what paint he used though. I know his approach was to remove the mask before filling though - but i guess he knew what he was doing... Here are a couple of better images... https://files.me.com/mwabrown/4puf7k https://files.me.com/mwabrown/1sqssh One point on the crystalfontz displays i used is that the LCD surround was plain metal - i had to "paint" it using a black permanent marker, otherwise it was looking a bit odd. Using the extended header was a breeze - the LCD is spaced off the board by 1 x m3 nut and washer - this brings it up to almost exactly the back of the front panel. Matthew
  2. Finally found time to finish No2 and raise the LCD of No1 (blue) - thanks go to Wilba for the extended headers!!! Matthew
  3. Hi - I always make sure I'm earthed when I handle any electro-static sensitive devices. Electro-static damage may not always be imediately evident, so a device could fail earlier than it's mean time to failure data would suggest. An earthing strap is inexpensive but I reckon it's invaluable. A
  4. Sorted! As recommended I increased the Send Delay in MIOS Sysex Tool to 1000mS and all patches are now fine. Thanks for the help. A
  5. Hehe they're on the way - a bankers draft will do... TBH - i never really intended to build with red leds so i'm not sure why i ordered the kit with them. Still, i have the pcbs for a MB6582 knocking about so maybe they have a useful future. A
  6. Hi - will try the MBSID editor for sure. Thanks guys. A
  7. Its still the same situation after a second transfer - if i edit the patch (keeping Monty Lead1 as an example) i can modify it to produce audio. I dont think theres a real problem here (as the other patches seem fine) - i've got to come clean as a total newb with regard to the whole MIDIbox thing. I just built the kit up and am now trying to get to grips with the concept - really enjoying it BTW. A
  8. Hi Thorsten I uploaded using the SYSEX tool in MIOS Studio - i will try again. Thanks for the quick reply. A
  9. Hi - got my sammichSID up and running and loaded up the default patches. All is good and groovy except some patches make little or no sound at all. Mostly its all fine just one or two seem to be very very low volume or non-existent. For example Monty Lead1 - virtually no sound, Monty Lead2 - no probs, Monty Lead3 - virtually no sound, Monty Lead4 - no probs. Most likely me not understanding something...... A EDIT - thats patches A095, A096, A097, A098. Also Monty Bass1 has no output, but 2 and 3 are fine.
  10. Sooooo after testing - 220 Ohms it is then.......
  11. As there are only 8 LED dropping resistors on the control pcb, are the LEDs multiplexed at high frequency? Can't fit ohms law into it otherwise... I want to use my own LEDs and understand that I will need to trial a few resistances to get the intensity right so I intended to just set up a 5vdc psu and breadboard until happy - then fit. But only 8 resistors and 48 LEDs which come on in different quantities.....enlighten me please....:)
  12. Thanks Wilba I was looking to use something similar to this. The pin outs seem to match and also the hole centres. A
  13. Hi Can anyone provide me with the LCD dimensions for the Sammich especially the mounting hole centres? I want to source a really cool LCD module and just want to make sure it will fit when the kit arrives. A part number for the standard display that Wilba provides would be ideal. I would email him direct but i'm guessing he has alot going on right now.... Cheers A
