  5. Hi Tom. Some answers: 8 with Midibox NG. MB-LRE8x2CS has notthing pre-assembled. If you want the LEDs already soldered, go for MB-LR4x2CS / MB-E4x2CS. Typically you can configure this to switch between the different modes (speed) of the encoder but you can assign any parameter to the command. Minimum: 1 core (any model: PIC, LPC17 or STM32F4 based core). In case you want to use the built-in switch of the encoders, you need to add a DINx2 module for each MB-LRE8x2CS. You can find the different Cores and the DIN modules in the SmashTV's shop. The faders and a AIN module (also in in the SmashTV's shop). You should consult the midibox page about the AIN module and use the search function of the forum to see if someone as already tried this type of use. Best regards, Jerome.
  6. Done. Best regards, Jerome.
  7. PCBs received ! I will post some pictures before next mid-week. Best regards, Jerome.
  8. Done. Best regards, Jerome.
  9. Dear members. I would like to inform that the prototype boards I ordered are on the road. I will give more technical informations about the board as soon as I will make them work. So the time frame of the bulk order could be known. Best regards, Jerome.
  10. Yes. You can assign any MIDI parameter that your host can handle to each controller. Best regards, Jerome.
  11. If you mean 16 channels = 16 controllers, you would need: MB-LR4x2CS_RED x 2 MB-E4x2CS x 2 25MM shaft encoders 16 MB-E4x2CS/MB-LR4x2CS can handle 8 controllers and MB-LRE8x2CS can handle 16. There's technically no much difference but you will be able to reach the maximum allowed number of SR (32) by the system with 10x MB-LR4x2CS (=80 controllers) or 8x MB-LRE8x2CS (=128 controllers). The main advantage of the MB-E4x2CS/MB-LR4x2CS is the time you won't spend to solder the LEDs. Best regards, Jerome.
  12. All I can say seeing this stuff that some men are lucky to have understanding wife (...or to not have at all a wife !).
  13. 2U= 3.469 inch and the board is 3.35 inch. Nevertheless, be careful to the the thickness of your top and bottom rack enclosure. Regarding the *.svg file, you only have to add the mounting holes (to the rack). Best regards, Jerome.
  14. Hi Accul. In case you weren't still informed: http://www.midibox.org/dokuwiki/doku.php?id=mb-lre8x2cs_bulk_order_2014 Best regards, Jerome.
  15. MB-E4x2CS-> Rev1.2: New layout including DOUTx2 chain and 1 LED/switch (total=16 LEDs). Users must turn the board at 180° to have the LED on the top of the switch (I was able to put the LED only below the switch)....or 90° clockwise to have the LED at the left of the switch. I will update the Wiki ASAP. Best regards, Jerome.
  16. In the case of 1 LED by switch, I think it would be easily doable. But I think there is at least as much as different wanted implementations (3 LEDs/switch, duoLED, ...) than the number of members here.
  17. The layout of the MB-E4x2CS board is definitive. Yes but the concept was to split the DIN chain on one board and the DOUT chain in one other. The idea would be to create a new SMD board instead MB-LR4x2CS with the DOUT chain and LEDs. Best regards, Jerome.
  18. No, but deep test made by Thorsten showed that the ULNs are necessary even in 4x2 context. The problem of brightness of LEDs occurs mainly with rectangular LEDs but not enough test (...or feedback) have been filled in the LED black list to propose a (some) good candidate(s). ...of course, members are still welcome to fill the list with their LED feedback ! Best regards, Jerome.
  19. Hi. I opened a bulk order page in my Wiki. You can follow Best regards, Jerome.
  20. Dear members. In the perspective of the upcoming bulk order of the MB-LRE8x2CS (Rev 4.6) I opened a waiting list. It is a all-in-one board including DINx4 module, improved DOUTx4 module, 16 LEDrings and 16 encoders. This control surface board is a very practical and cheap way to make a midi controller with adding only a core or make a more important controller without having to wire LEDrings. I included also 3 others boards to the list: MB-LR4x2CS_RED: 4×2 LEDrings board already populated by (128x) 1206 red SMD LEDs, MB-LR4x2CS_BLUE: 4×2 LEDrings board already populated by (128x) 1206 blue SMD LEDs, MB-E4x2CS: 4×2 Encoders board, MB-LR4x2CS and MB-E4x2CS are stacked one on the other. And 16mm undetended encoders (with 20 and 25 mm shaft) to know how much is there an interest for. You will find more informations on my Wiki page. Best regards, Jerome.
  21. Hi. I took a look to several 5x2x7 rectangular LED datasheet and I found that their size are not all exactly 2mm by 5mm. They are often slightly more than this values so I would like to known what is the best different sizes of LED opening for the *.svg file that I can provide. I can provide 2, 3 or 4 different files which should comply to most of the LEDs on the market. Thank you to give me your wishes. Other question: What is the best suitable space that I must let between the LED and the opening to be sure they fit the opening? In other words, what margin should I take (assuming I should take a margin ?) ? Best regards, Jerome.
  22. I updated the Wiki with some useful informations ( *.svg files, etc...). Best regards, Jerome.
