  1. Newhaven OLED NHD-0420DZW-AY5 on MB6582

1.) Connect your Newhaven OLED according to the following Pinout

    pinout.thumb.JPG.3026a5d223e05584e8c280b

This is represented on the PCB like this:

    core.thumb.jpg.ffe94c69742bb2d82a751f6f1

You will have to solder the 4 small SMD Jumper bridges on the bottom of the PCB

Reassure that you have all the pins right and then proceed to step 2.

2.) Start MIOS Studio and connect your MB6582 to your Midi Interface

Make sure that you have a stable connection - now load the device_id_00_lcd7.hex (supplied by TK from another thread).

Start the upload to the MB6582.

After this upload has been finished select the MB6582 Firmware application again (setup_mb6582.hex) - the attached file is version 2.045pre1

Wait till the upload is finished.

3.) Enjoy your new OLED awesomeness!

  2. Hey guys..

I dont have anymore time for music. So i am selling all my gear.

This also includes my new MB-6582 which i just finished months ago.

Some of you may know the Day of the Tentacle MB-6582 :P

I also ordered the Red/black waldorf knobs to make it perfect.

Its maxxed out, has a good power supply.. nice look.. cooled SIDs (Wilba SIDs brand new).

Pretty depressing, but well.. i have to sell it.. its hard times.. which doesnt mean it will be cheap.. i am asking exactly what all the parts and all the stuff did cost.

    What you think ?

  3. Really good looking MB-6582!

Sell your Sid Station.. the good thing about it, ppl pay BIG for the Sid Station (which i dont really understand because it really sounds bad).

    Have Fun fiddling around :sorcerer:

  4. Yeah.. i now have to use it because i need to sync the x0xb0x via the Midi Interface :( If i connect the x0x to the EMX-1 it is always some lagging and out of sync, i cant use it for basslines if it is out of sync.

The MB-6582 still runs over the Korg EMX-1. I literally hate making music on PC because you lose the direct connection to your hardware. I just use FL for syncing and will still use the EMX for Arrangement and Jamming.. as it is so much more fun :sorcerer:

  5. There used to be a thread, but it wasn't really active. Now there is this one:

Although its meant for Arps, I think you can post your patches there? Or maybe better just make a new thread, maybe some people will share their patches this time ;)

As for C64 sounds, remember that a C64 only had one SID, so be a little more minimalistic with the voices. You can also get the typical "fake chords" Arpeggio if you play around with the arpeggiator a bit. You can also use the "wavetable" synthesis method, which was used in C64 tunes. There are explanations for all that in the Manual, in the Lead Engine section:

    http://www.ucapps.de/midibox_sid_manual_l.html

Yeah i guess sharing isnt meant to be ? I am waiting for my new 4x4 interface, i will then share the lame patches i made so far. I think i get the basic idea of the c64 sounds now, i played around with the arp and with simple 1 OSC Triangle or Pulse Waves, i come near, but by far there is no perfection at all.

I dont know if people are afraid to share their patches so that they lose their unique "only i have got that" patch feeling ?!

  6. Thanks for the tip with soundcloud.. i just registered there.. There should be a place in the forum to share patches that would be nice. The whole test was made with just 1 patch. I used the Korg EMX Arp because it is easier to modify in real time. seems that i get almost every sound out of my mb-6582 (even the ones i never thought) except C64 sounds :getlost: how ironic is that ? :alien:

  7. Yeah i guess it has been recorded and sampled and layed over some effects. Well i get the idea, will play around with Arp and LFOs a little till i get close. Rome wasnt build in one day, so i guess i should have some more patience. At least the MB-6582 works.. even if i am not so sure about saving the Ensembles ? It seems that it only remembers for SID1.. sometimes it remembers all 4 SID engines sometimes just the first, havent really figured out why that is?

Well thanks for trying IMP. maybe wenn u get close or something u dont mind dumping the patch to sysex ? I am still looking for some cool patches to add.. so much space to save them

  8. Just got my SID Heatsinks today.. they looked bigger when i ordered them.. but well better than nothing.

At least i got out a Psytrance Typical Squelch today. At least i make a little progress, it seems that the MB-6582 is capable of almost everything i need somehow. I just sold my Access Virus because i dont need it anymore, how freaky is that ?

Thanks to everyone who made it possible, i just love this thing !!

  9. I already have a Aluminium Panel.. as i dont know exactly what lexan is, will i be able to fit it over my panel ? i have a red eloxated one, but i would like black, so can i just put a black lexan overlay on it ? How much would it cost. Thanks Patrick
