  1. listening to sammichSID & sammichFM making out. A bit clumsy so far, but they're loosening up a bit.

  2. Any chance that kaffeSEQ will be capable of less than eight steps per sequence? Five and seven note patterns make me happy.
  3. That's correct. The Arctic Ice Sammich was painted with acrylic. It took forever and didn't really fill the engravings in a particularly awesome fashion, but the color is nice. Here go a few photos that show the difference. Enamel is the way to go. All we need to figure out now is how well an enamel paint marker works. Who's going to be the first brave soul to give that a try? ****EDIT*** I used three coats of enamel on the black Sammich. Two would have been plenty had I spent a few minutes really cleaning out the engraving before I started and spent less time wiping away excess paint with a paper towel.
  4. The SEQ looks good too. The red I used was Testors basic red (#1103). I'm not sure if you can get it outside the US, but if anyone out there really wants it, I'm happy to mail you a bottle or two.
  5. That looks great! I contemplated going squeegee style on my girlfriend's Sammich but I was really worried about pulling off the mask and making a giant mess. I'm glad to know it's a viable option. Great work. Also, :frantics: sammichFM :frantics:
  6. Shhh. Don't tell my girlfriend. I just finished her Sammich. I'm gonna try and hold out until christmas, but if she gets all greedy with mine I'll let her have it early. Regarding the painting of the Sammich: I painted this one with enamel instead of acrylic and I'm a lot happier with the results. The acrylic was good, but it took a bit too long to dry and didn't really fill the engravings in a manner that I thought was super effective. It made the whole painting process kind of tedious. The enamel was a bit more viscous and tended to fill the engravings more evenly. It dried quickly too. That was a bit of a double edged sword as it allowed me to knock out all the painting over the course of a single day instead of several days. On the bad side, should you accidentally get some enamel some place you did not intend it to be, you have to act fast to clean it up. Also, having to have a bit of paint thinner around to clean brushes and tidy up accidents was kind of a drag but, in my opinion, the results were worth it. She's gonna be stoked.
  7. My Sammich turned out pretty well. I can't say enough good things about it. Well designed and thoughtfully laid-out PCBs, an assembly guide that was actually informative and entertaining, and a really cool case to put it all in. Here go a few insanely large photos: And, since Vimeo is being stubborn today, you can watch http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qe88vreivqE. Peep a few more photos on my Flickr stream. Enjoy that beer, Wilba! **edited for huge photo warning**
