Hi, Last night I builded my very first core8 module and attached the lcd module to it. It seems to work cause MIOs Studio reckognised the core, and I was able to upload an application. LCD works fine! Hooray!!! I've still lying some old 18f452 PIC's here so I tried one and the LCD says MIOS V1.6, and after that READY. So I want to update MIOS to version 1.9, but I read someware that there's is a special workaround for that, for V1.9 uses a different bootloader. How can I upload to MIOS v1.9 without reburning the PIC? Cheers, Roel

Hoi, Ik kwam een erg oude Ucapps forum post tegen waarbij je oude Soundblasterkaarten/Yamaha chips voor de FM synth aanbood. Ik ben eindelijk aan het midiboxen geslagen en ik woon in Udenhout. Mocht je nog zo'n Yamaha chip hebben liggen dan kom ik hem graag halen. Heb jij toevallig vorige maand ook spullen bij SmashTV besteld? Groeten, Roel

OK, Thanx for your answer. That's exactly what I wanted to hear!, and what I expected in the first place. To be honest last years I'm more a bit of a builder and techgeek than a musician, always looking for the perfect set up and busy getting everything to work. But I'm also really looking forward to play and do gigs with only a laptop and a big sturdy controller, instead of dragging al those analogue machines and dozens of cables like I did in the past. So starting a new hobby like programming is not my way to go, and I'm busy enough breaking my head over computer like stuff. Thanx again for your fast and clear answer! Cheers, Roel

I'm new here but I’ve wanted to build a midibox64 for a long time now. I've searched this site many times but I never knew where and how to start. I’ve quite some soldering experience, I builded a sequentix P3 sequencer, an ASM1modulair synth and an Oakley Sound 3031 and more stuff. I just always used a good step by step guide, but with the MIOS projects it’s a little different. I understand that's because the modulair principle of the midibox so that everybody can build his own machine. Yet after last good look I thought I understood the whole principle and I knew what to do. A 'normal' midibox 64, no encoders or motorized fader or something. I want to build an analogue style controller for Ableton Live. I want to experiment with different variable resistors, strain and bending etc. And I’ve builded a Paia Theremax witch sends 0-5 V CV signals that I would like to use. Therefore I chose the regular midibox 64 with the PIC core base and ordered the necessary kits from smashTV yesterday. But when I came back to this site and started reading over and over again, I started questioning myself if I couldn’t better start with the STM32 core, for that’s the future! But for the MIOS 8/midibox64 I understand how to work and start assembling, and for the STM/MIOS32 I don’t understand and don’t know how to start. Is it as simple, or is STM32 specially designed for new and advanced projects? What are your thoughts? All input is welcome! I can probably still change my order, because it’s not payed yet. Hoi, Ik ben nieuw en wil eigenlijk al tijden een midibox 64 bouwen. Ik heb al heel vaak door deze site gezocht en wist nooit zo goed waar en hoe te beginnen. Op zich heb ik redelijk veel soldeer ervaring, ik heb een P3 sequencer gebouwd , ASM1 en een Oakleysound 3031 en meer spul. Alleen heb ik altijd een goede stap voor stap beschrijvingen gevolgd en die vond ik hier toch niet echt. Ik snap dat dat komt omdat het midibox principe modulair is en iedereen zijn eigen machine kan bouwen. Toch na laatst goed zoeken had ik het plaatje compleet en wist ik wat te doen. Een 'gewone' midibox 64, zonder encoders of motorfaders oid. Ik wil gaan experimeteren met verschillende variabele weerstanden, trek en buig ed, en heb bv ook een paia theremax die 0-5v cv's uitstuurt. Die zou ik ook graag gebruiken. Daarom heb ik gekozen voor de gewone midibox 64 met de PIC base core en heb gisteren bij smashTV de benodigde kits besteld. Nou ben ik echter weer door deze site aan het zoeken en kom ik steeds de STM32 based core tegen en begin ik mij toch af te vragen of ik niet beter die kit had kunnen bestellen en ff uitzoeken hoe dat dan weer werkt?! Misschien is het beter om bij de PIC core te blijven omdat ik dat principe duidelijk en overzichtelijk vind, maar misschien beter voor ik begin al overstappen op de STM32 omdat dat toch de toekomst is. Ik kan mijn order vast nog aanpassen, het geld is nog niet afgeschreven. Wat is jullie gedachten of bevindingen hierover? Alle input is welkom! Groeten, Roel
