Dammit, i keep finding that tool, but never the specific name!

I found this B-Crimp Open Barrel Tool, but the website looks kind of sketchy, and I still don't know if that's what i need or not.

I also found a BCT-1 Open Barrel Terminal Crimp Tool, but not for sale. I never thought a hand tool could be so elusive.

If anyone has one of these "crimp tools" and would like to share where they bought it from, it would be much appreciated.

OK, now the thing with crimp tools is that there are a lot of crimping applications.

- hence a lot of crimping tools.

The really expensive ones are most likely pneumatic or hydraulic powered, and are used to swage the eyelets on the end of steel ropes. These tools should only be owned/operated by a professional, hence the "professional" price range.

The ratchet-type crimping tools work the best (for me...) as the ratchet action ensures that the crimper will not let go until the appropriate crimping pressure has been achieved.

You also have no need for any tool which mentions RJ connectors, RG connectors etc, these are for telecommunications / networking / video install applications, and are useless for the 0.1" header application you need.

Long story short, here's one...

Its basically called an Open Barrell Crimping tool.

You just need one with a AWG 26-28 terminal.

Smash sells them!

Theyre not listed but he does indeed sell them, theyre the Pro's Kit non ratchet version.

The rachet is more of a luxury if anything, its totally not essential.

I was going to buy the the one tilted mentioned, but i found one of the proskit ones for a great price on ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=015&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT&viewitem=&item=250145078840&rd=1

Postage was only $12.80 to europe, it shipped fast, and the guy was really helpful i have to say,

And it came sealed in original packaging btw, unlike in the pic

If you need it soon i advise buying it from that seller, if not then buy it from smash.

This is the official site for the Crimptool, i think you can buy direct from there too:

Thanks Smithy and /tilted/, but after some more "quality time" with google (why isn't there a suicide emoticon?), I found this page: http://www.gorobotics.net/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=102&Itemid=46

The crimp tool they suggest is, of course, a dead link.  ::)

But I continued looking at Jameco's catalogue, and found this crimp tool: http://www.jameco.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?langId=-1&storeId=10001&catalogId=10001&productId=159266

Turned out to be $20 including shipping, so it was a pretty good deal. Still, however, thanks for your time!
