I just found this product on the net, it appears to be a plastic with a very low melting point. I'm getting a little to see how translucent it is. Maybe this would be useful for custom buttons?

Any idea on the price? Good button caps are impossible to find.

I was thinking I could get a mold or two CNCed and make the buttons with the stuff. I ordered the sample pack to check it out. WE'll see soon enough!

Not yet. The material I'll use (acrylic) is very cheap. It's laser cut not milled so that's fairly cheap too. My plan is to use 3 layers of acrylic + led for DIY illuminated button caps. I hope to be able to get one of the layers from the cutout holes in the front panel to save money.

Yep, this is the way to go. Search down Sasha's thread about making these, he posted templates on how to do it.

i was thinking that it would be useful for making more unique layouts (buttons around a jogwheel, etc) but i guess you could do the same with the method you guys posted.
