OK,am new to all this and currently fascinated by all the ideas shared in this site about midi implementation.i want to build a 24 channel audio control surface based on the midibox lc.my dilemma is,how many cores will i need to do so.........HEEEEEELP PLIZ!

Hi,

since the Logic Control Protocol requires individual MIDI ports for each set of 8 faders, and since the core module can only control 8 motorfaders anyhow:

24/8 = 3

Best Regards, Thorsten.

Ok, now i get the vibe.this is how i figured it after your reply,

CORE1 = 8 rotary encorders + rotary LEDs + 8 Moving faders

CORE2 = 8 rotary encorders + rotary LEDs + 8 Moving faders

CORE3 = 8 rotary encorders + rotary LEDs + 8 Moving faders + switches for FFD,REV,STOP,PLAY and other extended functions + 1 rotary encorder switch for JOG wheel.

correct me if i am wrong.tell me the best way to interlink the cores so as to use only core3 as the midi in and out link to the PC.also is there a Midibox lc forum for newbies?

MIDIbox Link won't work for the MBLC protocol.

As already mentioned, the protocol requires individual MIDI IN and OUT ports.

Thats predefined by all DAWs which support it...

This means, that you have to use a MIDI Interface with at least 3 MIDI INs and OUTs (such as GM5x5x5, it gives you two free MIDI IOs in addition)

is there a Midibox lc forum for newbies?

When you are using the search function you will find a lot of threads around MIDIbox LC topics (sometimes the shortcut MBLC is used)

Best Regards, Thorsten.
