Geir_Helgi
Ok, I've been sick the last few days (there's a flu lurking around) and to make good use of my spare time I decided to whip out my Sammich (it's been in storage since I moved a couple of months ago)... First of all; The voltage readings are fine (all of them). The sammichCSTest.hex worked fine (all the LEDs lit up like in Wilba's little flash video). The OS uploads/installs fine. I could even transmit the vintage presets to the Sammich (and I see the name of the first patch). But none of the buttons work. Strange, eh? Help a brother out! (ps. I only have one 6581 installed, shouldn't matter and I've got a perfect regulated 12V PSU) Edited February 10, 2011 by Geir_Helgi
sylwester
First, I'd check the traces connected to the shift registers (74HC165) and the solder points. If you could make some close-up pictures I could check the it visually.
Flemming
So, it worked before or what?? And the encoder works?? I once experienced that my CS did not work at first power-up, but then i quickly remebered that i didn't solder the header pins on the CS, only for the LCD  Edited February 10, 2011 by Flemming
Geir_Helgi
Ok, I'll check those traces.. The only dodgy things on the board (lower board) are the heat-sink solder joints, because I messed it up and had to use the upper surface points. It wouldn't hurt to know what the continuity/ohm meter should read on that part of the pcb  It didn't work before, the encoder doesn't work either and none of the buttons work  Both headers are soldered. Geir_Helgi
WOW! Just found my old sammichSID which wasn't working, resoldered some nasty newbie mistakes and thorougly checked all the points (according to the build guide) Still nothing happened :( Then I found an old thread where somebody (like me) was so eager to get his SID sound up & running that he accidentally put some ICs in the wrong place!! I checked those and *bam* there was the problem that had me running in circles all that time :D Now I'm sending an arpeggiator into my Sammich (with a 6581) and it sounds GREAT :D Can't wait to start using it, loving it and tweaking it :D Thanks everyone! Happy 2014!
