On the linux/audio tip, There are some very interesting developments happening at the moment with respect to linux and audio.

ICRAM in france in co-operation with others are developing a linux distribution written just for audio. At this stage it is at about version 0.9 so the first offical realase is not far away.

The intension is to provide a one stop OS and apps for audio professional's which can be compleatly customised to the users needs.

I'm very excited about this.

Check out the details and downloads: www.agnula.org

Till next time

I think this is all interresting information, but aren't we discussing this in the wrong topic? :D

Maybe one of the mods can cut out these replies about Linux and Music and make a dedicated topic of it?

On Linux:

When i search for Linux i get so many different distributions, this makes it hard to choose which one suits me best.

But when you take a look at that Agnula you'll see that on that site they actually only have the choice between a Debian distribution and a RedHat Distribution.

Which is best, how do i know which one to take?

And about the Portal:

The links there work in a strange way.

When i enter the page and go straight to the downloads section, it's shows some files/links for downloading stuff. Also when you go from the tutorails section to the downloadssection, everything is ok.

But when i first go to the Designs section and then to the Downloads section i get a message saying 'Check back in a few days for some awsome downloads!' (which has been there for more than a few days! :) ) And no downloads are there which were shown before. Why is that? Kind of a strange way for the links to work.

Hi.

It seems to be a typo in designs page.. download.php versus downloads.php.. (strange, since I thought that any reused elements on php pages should "naturally" be parsed from one source ;)

Hey Poleq,

I will be re-building my MB LC (nicer front panel, and more channel strips, and some other config changes) over the next few months, so I will be making a tutorial as I go, so expect some material from me, but I am slow too! (but other slow builders are welcome to come for the ride too!  ;))
