Which LCD to use for MidiBox64?

Hi

I am building my MIOS midibox 64 "Hammond B-3" (I plan to adjust my design to the control needs of the NI B-4 Hammond Organ software emulation). 8)

At the moment I have most of the parts, but I am not sure which lcd to buy. I want either a 2 x 16 char. or a 4 x 16 char. backlit lcd. The questions are:

1) can I use a bigger lcd (i.e. 4 x 20 char.) for the midibox 64 (MIOS)?

2) Must I necessarily use a lcd compatible with the Hitachi HD44780 standard, or can I use any type of 2/4 x 16/20 char.? ???

Hi Dimitris,

you can assume that every character LCD on the market is compatible to HD44780, even if they are sold under another name (like KS00070)

Douglas has integrated a special page for 4x20 display into the MB64 application, it will be published with the next release.
