I am asking because I am considering buying a spare in case a chip goes bad in my unit. I sometimes read about them getting very hot and that makes me wonder. I know that the fact that plenty of C64s still run well today is an example of the components vitality, but since the chip is removed from it's original platform and used in a manner somewhat different  (and possibly more intensive) than what it was originally designed to handle, I am afraid that over a period of time that a failure may become probable. Maybe I'm just paranoid :)

What do you think?
