Is there any concrete reason for using 11 leds at led-rings? Instead of 16 (the max.) or 10 (for scale purposes)??

Thanks in advance

ok, ok, just asking because a lot of designs that I see around here use a 11 led configuration.

Well, i use an even number so if the enc is in the exact middle no leds are lit.

I think the most important reason you frequently see 11 leds is that almost every FPD designer used Thorstens original design for the MB16e, which had 11 leds per encoder, and cut&paste with that for their own designs.

Hi guys,

If your're building mbhp projects for mackie/logic controller emulation you are limited to 11 leds because of Mackie's protocol and not mbhp hardare limitations.

If you're building MB16E projects or using its encoder ring source code in your own designs than you can have 16 leds by modifying the display pattern code. Its very simple to do so.

Peace

Minimum value 0, max 10 logical steps.....11

It may be a digital system but we come from an analogue world.
