Guest Ryan Posted February 17, 2004 Report Posted February 17, 2004 hi!here are the details of my problem:- I have finished my core and im trying to upload mios onto it (no AIN, DIN or LCD connected)- I used MIDI OX and the gameport interface to connect the core to the PC- on power on MIDI OX recieves the request code upload message (F0 00 00 7E 40 00 01 F7), this cycles every 2 sec, so i guess the boot loader is OK. I noticed that the request upload message is seen on the output monitor as well as on the input monitor... is this normal behavior?- I have enabled port monitoring for MPU-401, is this correct- Sysex editor configured as recommended by Thorsten (delay F7:750ms, low level buffer output: 2048)- after sending the sysex(main) to the core, the monitors still recieve the request code upload message (F0 00 00 7E 40 00 01 F7), and also while sending the sysex, i dnt get confirmation message from the PIC.I'm lost... any help will be greatly appreciatedThanks,Ryan Quote

Guest Ryan Posted February 17, 2004 Report Posted February 17, 2004 hi Thorsten! With the RX and TX pins shorted:Send/Recieve is ok with small sysex messages but when i try it with the main.syx, Send/Recieve stops at around 19202 bytes... MIDI port problem? i tried looking for better gameport driver than the one installed but i cant find one. Also, when i play around with the settings the number of read bytes increases but never matches...ThanksRyan Quote
Guest Ryan Posted February 17, 2004 Report Posted February 17, 2004 hi! Its me again...I played around with the sysex settings on midiox and i got it to work, the number of byte sent matched the number of byte sent... so i tried to upload mios v2.2 onto the core...i cut the jumper on Rx and Tx and then tried to upload:i got aknowledge messages from the pic all were OK (0F). the problem is: after a few seconds the request code upload message appears again... and cycles every 2 secs. Problem with the PIC? i tried other chips but i still get the same resultThanks, your help is greatly appreciated,Ryan Quote
TK. Posted February 17, 2004 Report Posted February 17, 2004 Hi Ryan, fine that it works now! (in principle)This shows how important it is to follow really every step of the MIDI Troubleshooting GuideYou wrote:> so i tried to upload mios v2.2 onto the coreBut maybe you mean that you've tried to upload the MIDIbox64 V2.2 application into the core. And this won't work so long as MIOS (V1.5b) has not been uploaded. So, now it's time to read the Bootstrap Loader page, especially the topic "The whole upload procedure". Once you've uploaded MIOS, you will be able to upload the application.Best Regards, Thorsten. Quote
