Hello

Just a question about tolerance values:

In www.farnell.com I have found 470pF polysterene (Styroflex) caps with 1% tolerance (630V) as well as  470pF poysterene caps with 2,5% tolerance (160V). Which ones are more suitable for the SID module? (There are also different tolerance values (1% and 2,5%  for the 6.8nF caps used for the 8580 chip)

TK suggests 2,5 tolerance. Would t the 1% tolerance make the filter more accurate?

Best regards

For audio stuff (e.g. filter) always prefer the lowest tolerance. 1% should be better.

You have to think about following: @ 1000 Hz 2,5 % are meaning *about* 25 Hz up/down (roughly!!!) and 1% 10 Hz. If you want all SIDs in one perfect filter row, prefer the 1% ones.

thanks pay_c

But what about the voltage differencies (1% tol, 630V v. 2,5% tol. , 160V) Does the voltage value affect the behaviour of the capacitors and consequently the filter?

BTW the design of your MBseq is absolutely fantastic!!
