Question on blue leds luminance

Hello every1

I am going to buy some blue leds (about 100 pcs) for my sid panel. I have found some very appealing auctions on ebay. I just want to ask if anyone could suggest how high the luminance should be in order for the leds to light up properly when mounted on the panel, while at the same time not drive the user blind. I jave the current options (I will be usinf 3mm leds):

4500 mcd, 6100 mcd and 7000 mcd.

Which type should I use? Will the 7000mcd ones be too bright? :-/

Just increase the 220R res on douts to a value ur happy with - think i used 470R with the blue leds i got...
