illogik Posted August 24, 2005 Report Posted August 24, 2005 yeah, it's for the lcd, and i think you got it in the right wayif you are getting to the point that you are 1000% sure the hardware checks are ok (voltages/connections); and you still have no midi activity, it could be that the bootstrap isn't loaded correctly, for some strange reason. But like i said; if you bought a pre burned PIC, this would seem unlikely to me.and you need a programmer/burner to check this of course.. :-\
kokoon Posted August 24, 2005 Author Report Posted August 24, 2005 okay i'll build another core and then if it still won't work i'll build a programmer.
kokoon Posted September 5, 2005 Author Report Posted September 5, 2005 sorry i haven't posted - it all works now. i didn't have the bootloader on the pic. when i was burning i didn't know what to burn and i thought MIOS would be okay. it wasnt. i built the broccoli18 and burnt the bootloader and now all is good.thanks for help guys!
Jidis Posted November 1, 2005 Report Posted November 1, 2005 Make sure it's the solder sponge too. Regular ones supposedly can't handle the heat or corrode the tips.I've been meaning to reply back to this. I ran across the place I read that again, and it said that a cellulose (natural) sponge is OK. They're regular "grocery store junk", and I've been using one for the past month.- Georgehttp://members.shaw.ca/sask.rail/model-book/soldering/soldering.html
