  1. wow... i'm also from slovenia (like the guy mentioned in the first post) i'd love to have a case and front made professionaly!
  2. hmm this is looking really good... i remember those from monome ... $20 really isn't too much. but then the price is just for the rubber, the contact pcb is another $15. hmm that makes $140 for what you need for the midibox seq. not cheap but since it looks like a really nice and sturdy led button system i would pay them the money. but it's obviously overpriced.
  3. fantastic work, guys, robert i love your work - can't wait to hear what you make with this badboy :D so actually it's more a sequencer interface than anything else?
  4. isn't vibrato VCO frequency modulation, not amplitude modulation?
  5. TK i'm still thinking about using a AOUT_LC with a S&H: - can the AOUT_LC be used for single channel 16 bit operation? - what frequency is AOUT_LC driven with now? - how many 16 (if even possible) bit channels would the PIC be able to multiplex?
  6. hello! your box is really interesting! could you maybe explain shortly how you recognise which patch cable is plugged where? (i mean in code - the patching is just another form of modulation matrix, right?)
  7. haha imagine having a mbsid in a neat case with this folding-out :)
  8. that's EXACTLY what i wanted to hear! fantastic! i'll go and make this now. see you in xx months :)
  9. okay i've done some researching and have come to the following: - the processor scans the keyboard like this: each cycle it outputs high to each of the 8 lines and scans the 8 other lines for status of keys. - this could probably be simply implemented on midibox platform. - is there any way to get 8 inputs and 8 outputs on just the CORE module? i mean without an additional DIN and DOUT?
  10. i think it's the final mixer (that sums the 3 voices) that's buggy and outputs DC - that's why when samples are played nothing else can be heard... i might be wrong though.
  11. and Moog will be showing their new synth to the world there
  12. i'm interested in that italian one. not saying for sure i'd buy it though. i'm from slovenia.

    SID benchmark

i can do a few if you provide hosting space. i have 2 different sid chips and a couple of caps that i can switch. i thought about this already but didn't think anyone would be interested. i think the most important thing to show are the filters. also important is the pure waveform output cause both of my sids sound pretty different. then the combined waveforms. one of mine is almost mute with SAW+SQR (i think) i propose the following "benchmarks" (samples/demos): - TRI wave 5 octaves - SAW wave 5 octaves - SQR wave 5 octaves - noise 5 octaves - TRI+SAW 5 octaves - TRI+SQR 5 octaves - SAW+SQR 5 octaves - TRI+SAW+SQR 5 octaves - TRI wave 5 octaves filter sweep reso=0 - SAW wave 5 octaves filter sweep reso=0 - SQR wave 5 octaves filter sweep reso=0 - TRI+SAW 5 octaves filter sweep reso=0 - TRI+SQR 5 octaves filter sweep reso=0 - SAW+SQR 5 octaves filter sweep reso=0 - TRI+SAW+SQR 5 octaves filter sweep reso=0 - TRI wave 5 octaves filter sweep reso=127 - SAW wave 5 octaves filter sweep reso=127 - SQR wave 5 octaves filter sweep reso=127 - TRI+SAW 5 octaves filter sweep reso=127 - TRI+SQR 5 octaves filter sweep reso=127 - SAW+SQR 5 octaves filter sweep reso=127 - TRI+SAW+SQR 5 octaves filter sweep reso=127 the filter sweeps would be each note (C2 C3 C4 C5 C6). it looks like a long list - do you think some are useless? would you add anything?
  14. i think you can assign a key range for each OSC separately.
  15. about the encoders: i had the same problem here in slovenia. nobody knew what rotary encoder was. so i ended up ordering them from voti.nl and all was good. actually encoders don't do what you described. there are 3 pins: first is positive voltage and the other 2 are A and B. turning the encoder result in outputting rectangular functions on both A and B output but they're delayed a bit so you can "decode" which way the encoder is turning. something like this: (google image search for rotary encoder) http://www.qsl.net/pa3ckr/bascom%20and%20avr/interrupts/rotary-encoder.gif
  16. err TK how do i put this... actually i haven't upgraded the SID app yet... ;) so - the slides aren't constant time... but you'd probably hardly notice the difference - each sid line has only 1 different slide. ;D i don't have a bankstick yet and i don't want to loose some patches yet - i'll upgrade when i finish a track i'm working on.
  17. i'm not even going to make a track out of it... i put it here just to display the sounds SIDs can make. that's why no other sounds. and i didn't want to multitrack it and record more of the same SIDs later because what you hear is really recorded in one take. anyway, thanks for the comment :)
  18. not a "track" but still: the bassline is a 8580 and the higher pitched sequence that comes in later is a 6581. the filters are SIDs' own. the drums are Roland R-8. then there's also a yamaha 1005 analogue delay, an old parametric eq and a cheap zoom reverb. and yes, i know there's too much delay and reverb :) i "mastered" it on headphones. http://s5.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=2JGI7K0LEO4QM38XU1OLGSI4BR

    v1.7303 beta

that S&H is a great idea! cheers!!
  20. oh that's a great idea. after some thinking - the limitations of a synth is the thing that usualy inspires me (and probably other people too) to explore it and it's possibilities (sound-wise) so i'm not that bothered with the loss of ENV2. but actually i was hoping to find a simpler solution (for your implementation). now i see that reuse of ENV2 is the simplest :) i really don't want to shorten your nights! and again - it sounds really really cool 8) thanks!
  21. cool, i get it. so the ENV2 "amount" is current slide range and ENV2 "attack" is actually the slide *time*. but... isn't it a bit ...shame to loose the ENV2. i mean... i know we're not loosing it - we'll still be able to use it and we're also getting a new feature. personally, i'd prefer a fixed rounded curve. is there maybe a table already somewhere that could be used? either way - the slides sound really great now. i'm looking forward to this being implemented and released!!! thanks alot for the constant developing of the mbsid! oh - by the way - will this be available in normal sid mode or just in 303 mode?
