Strange behaviour of PIC

Hi,

have some issues with my 2nd CORE + PIC.

The CORE is working fine when i use the PIC 18F from the first core (e.g. the LCD display boot up and all is working).

If i am using the other PIC, i just get a "short" black line on the display upon booting then nothing;  however the reacting to SysEx &

reprogramming via Midi works (e.g. i see that with the LCD test application).

How can i see if the PIC is really defect or is there some possiblity to reprogram with _without_ a JDM (it's ordered but not yet arrived). ???

And how (or by who) was the 2nd pic programmed? Is it possible it was programmed in Low Voltage Mode?

With the LCD test application: nothing, just the MIDI output (on my Midibox).

When using the "programming" (e.g. 3 sec turnup) i see the bytes + ACKs from MIDI and from CORE.

The only thing i don't see is anything on the LCD.

If i use the other PIC in the SAME box with the SAME lcd, the "problem" is gone.

Both PICS were programmed by Mike with the default values (0x0000000000) and the bootloader.

i will have my JDM next week
