Davo Posted January 25, 2006 Report Posted January 25, 2006 The Yamaha TX7 (keyboardless DX7) has only 32 patch slots. This can cause irritation if you want to have a wide variety of patches available in an instant. Does a Midibox core module have what it takes to hold, say, 256 patches, scroll through a categorized menu (preset with a desktop computer), and dump the selected patch to the synth? As the subject suggests, this device would be intended for live performance. Quote
raphael Posted January 25, 2006 Report Posted January 25, 2006 MIOS could do this but there is no ready-made application yet. So you will have to program it by yourself. How many patches a MidiBox can hold depends on the patch size. How big is a TX7/DX7 patch? With 8 banksticks MIOS can address 512kByte EEPROM. Quote
moebius Posted January 25, 2006 Report Posted January 25, 2006 Hi.Looking at the DX7 sysex spec, looks like one voice is 155 bytes of data. That´s simply too much for MB64 - which CAN be used to tasks like this, if it´s configured to "patch mode" + using customized meta events.robinfawell here on the forum has been working on program to dump preconfigured Sysex strings from the bankstick. You might want to have a look at his work.Moebius Quote
