I think Reichelt do some. But as im not buying enything else from them and because of the minimum order quantity this is'nt an option. ultra Posted February 9, 2007 Report Share Posted February 9, 2007 i think i found a solution to this problem. the alps encoders i purchased actually have close to a 4mm hole (slightly bigger) from the underside that turns with the encoder shaft. i'm going to buy 4mm metal rods and glue it in, drill a hole in the perfboard for it to fit, and attach the knob. seems like it should be sturdy. adamwg Posted February 9, 2007 Author Report Share Posted February 9, 2007 No luck yet.Good idea about glueing a 4mm shaft in. i might try and take apart an encoder with a 6mm plastic shaft, put it in a drill and kind of make a makeshift lathe and machine it down. Farnell now stock mentor knobs with and without an indicator that will fit 6mm shafts. They are by far the best i've found so far. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
ultra Posted February 9, 2007 Report Share Posted February 9, 2007 i was just inquiring about those mentor knobs the other day. 511.61 look nice and have no indicator. 513.61 would be a nice matching wheel for the seq. they're awaiting delivery to farnell. perhaps i'll order eventually. they don't give shipping rates (i'm in u.s.) until you order, though.the only other problem would be getting it to adapt to the d-shaft encoders i already ordered. perhaps i'll just go with this knob (http://www.allelectronics.com/cgi-bin/item/KNB-150/310/KNOB_FOR_1_8%22#34;_SHAFT_.html) and use my 4mm shaft gluing idea.let me know what you end up doing.
