akts4779
helloI'm stuck with building a midibox sid. I can't get the bankstick to work. When I turn on the power, while 'virgin' bankstick is connected, nothing happens.I have tested 2 different eeproms (24lc512 and 24c256).I'm using the default setup_6581_without_cs.HEX. Do I need to edit something to get my bankstick working & formatted? Is there a way to scan for banksticks or any other debug option?I really wish to pass this problem step and proceed further in building. Thank you very much for your reply.
bugfight
I'm using the default setup_6581_without_cs.HEX. this hex is for slave sid cores only
akts4779
Thanks for notifying me about that particular hex file.I have actually tried every hex file I could find and tried modifying the .asm files and recompiling but still no sign of bankstick detected. You ought to hear some output from sid while bankstick is being formatted, right?
t_xen
I installed a bankstick today with the same thing happening.I realized I had the SC and SD lines backwards. I swapped the 2 wires, powered up, and it detected and automatically formatted them.Perhaps in your case, swapping those lines may fix? :-\Here's what I came up with in troubleshooting on my MB_SID bankstick module....If Vs and Vd are backwards, the core will not power on.If SC and SD are backwards, it will not read the bankstick. If you swapped SD and SC and it still will not see them, check your wiring on the Bankstick module you've built. akts4779
Problem solved, bad wiring. Works great!I indeed had the SC and SD lines backwards. I guess the image on bankstick page was too much of a labyrinth for me...Btw, my bankstick module is just an ic-socket wired directly to the pins on the core. Thanks to anyone who participated, I'm now one step further for finishing off this little monster!
