seppoman
http://www.midibox.org/forum/index.php/topic,9384.msg80371.html#msg80371 :Dthis means that when you edit a wiki entry, the row of symbols above the text area will have a symbol for "add images and other files" (it's the second right looking slightly like two hills and a sun above)S
selfservice
yes, i've found this, but i cannot understand how i can upload files to the wiki server, i'm actually using my server and placing a link in the wiki.the button shows only a "list" of already uploaded files. maybe a browser incompatibility? i'm using firefox 2.0.0.11 on ubuntu 7.10... seppoman
below the list/thumbnails there should be a file upload button where you can specify the local file and a wiki name. if it isn't there, either there is a browser incompatibility or TK didn't setup your upload permission correctly.S
selfservice
I've tried with IE 7 and when editing a page it says: "This page is read only. You can view the source, but not change it. Ask your administrator if you think this is wrong".M$ sucks better than ever...But IE 6 show the same of Firefox, so i think there is a trouble with permissions... stryd_one
Ahh Seppo, only some people (like you and I) have access to upload ;)If you want an image or zip or something uploaded, then you can send it to "MBWiki dawt Upload aht gmail dawt com" (i hope you can see the email address there... don't want to link it and become a spam magnet) and I will upload it for you. I check the address every 5 minutes outside of business hours, and usually upload very soon after that.If you want to upload some information, please try to make it in wiki format, because I can do conversion from HTML but I am very busy so it will cause delays :(
seppoman
Ahh Seppo, only some people (like you and I) have access to upload ;)I know that of course :D please follow the link I posted above to find out why selfservice should have upload permission ;)S
stryd_one
Derr I'm daft, should have read before I posted...Sorry :-[ I must admit that as I typed I was thinking, that error sounds like a wiki bug from the server move (someone did say that it was read-only), but I've just tested it out and it's working OK, so I guess it is a permissions thing..... Except that I've just discovered that I don't have permission to delete stuff from the wiki. Doh! ;D[me=stryd_one]calls out.... "smaaaa-aaaaaaaaaaaash?"[/me]hahhahaha

Except that I've just discovered that I don't have permission to delete stuff from the wiki. Doh! ;DI noticed that, too, when I uploaded some wrong AOUT_NG pic once. Don't know if that's possible but it would be nice if one could at least delete files you have uploaded yourself and no other page is using.S
TK.
Should work againBest Regards, Thorsten.
selfservice
Yes, now the upload form shows up!
stryd_one
Sorry to play the resurrector of threads but... What are the chances of those of us with upload permissions, also having delete permissions? I understand it's a wiki, and that removing files completely might not work out, but maybe there's an invisibility tag or something?
TK.
The problem is, that the Wiki configuration tool doesn't display the access group name. So, instead of comfortably enabling "Delete" permission for "Frequent Writer" group, I get "Group 1", "Group 2", "Group 3", ... "Group 9" presented, and can only make a guess if you are in the appr. group or not...I changed this now for "Group 9" - please check. If it doesn't work, we need to test other groups.Best Regards, Thorsten.
seppoman
Thanks Thorsten, I can delete now - Group 9 is us then :)S
stryd_one
Yay! Thanks TK. Either group 9 = us, or group 9 = everybody, but it works! ;)
Narwhal
Hi hopefully this is the right place to ask this.. I think I may need to have the upload permissions setup for me for the wiki. I've been writing instructions for XCode 3 and access via svn and I have several images ready to go, but the popup file manager window only allows me to select other peoples pictures. Thanks,Kurt
stryd_one
Email them to MBWiki.Upload@gmail.com and they will magically appear on the wiki. This reminds me: on Friday I found some VERY old files thet were emailed but never uploaded - they'll go up shortly; if you're one of these people I apologise! Had PST file corruption last year and lost them :(
Narwhal
How long does this magic usually take? I've given it 10mins so far. Are there any tricks to this emailing? Does the subject line help create a namespace or anything like that? Does my email address need to match some list that the receiver has?
seppoman
Haha, 10 minutes ;) Stryd isn't that fast ;D - That isn't some automated system, just an adress styd_one is regularly checking and then uploading the stuff himself.S
stryd_one
Sorry narwhal I've been developing stuff and doing graphics and 30 tabs open all day... it's crazy here... I'll up them within the hour.
stryd_one
http://www.midibox.org/dokuwiki/how_to_setup_xcode3_to_access_the_svn_server#setup_svnmios_repositorymmmm, doco. We love doco. *Nice one narwhal*
Narwhal
For some reason it didn't even occur to me that the email was @gmail.com. Of course it isn't automated.
stryd_one
Well it *could* still be automated but that's a spam magnet ;)(pop3 client downloads mail, extracts attachment, and uses wget to upload it to the wiki)Plus this way we can put it in an appropriate namespace. Narwhal
Seems like it could be done where its relatively spam free. Some kind of required syntax to the subject line perhaps. It's a shame that it relies on human interaction. I'm impatient and when I get the itch to write documentation, I like to add lots of pictures. stryd_one
I don't think there's really a need for it. If you're in a big rush you can just ask nicely and I'll make time for you :)
