  1. Yes you can do such a disk but in my case with so close and 120° angle led, the closest led are polluted and you loose visual precision. I tried it too lol. I've got a CNC so I haven't got limit. There's PMMA in the ring holes too, this holes have a kind of tear shape, the bit I used is 0.8mm diameter. Ring and screen window are one piece PMMA. Make a full ring is difficult in my case, because of the circuit, there's bus inside the ring and i need to connect it, this is the way on my PCB. And it was a very very very long work to route this part.

  2. Be careful about the total number of DIN/DOUT . Big Serial Register In Out chains (large number of DIN/DOUT chained) are possible in theory but tend to be hard to manage in practice. If not already done , i advice you to check about matrix designs (http://wiki.midibox.org/doku.php?id=led_dotmatrix | http://wiki.midibox.org/doku.php?id=switch#matrix_design ) to maintain SRIO chain as small as possible. Also, regarding CNC things, Midibox is a community and i know that some members are equipped with toolry . You might ask/pay a midiboxer (maybe cheaper than schaeffer) to do it ? Surely more flexible ^^ Bests, JK

  3. No, thank you for sharing! It always amazes me how much hard work people share so that people like me might ride on their coat tails... One of the things I have to do is determine affordability when machining. That many small LED rings machined into a top aluminium plate is going to get expensive so I look at ways of implementing it in other ways, in this case the whole ring area could be machined out with a small lip and a plastic disk of smoked plexi pushed into the hole. Ponoko have done "light shapers" so that led shapes are perfect. This is something I did on a Monome Arc build I did while back

  4. I will fill the wiki every day it's to much information to do it in only one time... Sorry for that. But don't worry I will explain and show everything. An example: A test to show notes on the ring in black and white: Thank you for your understanding. Antichambre
