I have no LCD yet :( I did some tests with Midiox but I get no output, I will try to burn a test firmware to see if it works.
-
Ok, just built the core, I read 5.2v. How can I test the core to see if all is ok ? It is loaded with PIC16 with the midibox16E firmaware. Thanks

I will need you postal code to calculate shipping, you can post me a private message Nat

********* EDIT : 25/07/03 We're currently at around 235 orders, I ordered yesterday so I should receive the encoders in about 2-3 weeks. Regular shipping costs between 5$ and 17$ and can be insured Final price for encoders should be around 2.46$ canadian which makes ~1.72$US or ~1.49Euros Spec sheet : http://www.studioimaginaire.com/files/zautre/STEC16B.pdf ********* This could be interesting for those who wants Undetented encoders.  Little explanation : Undetented encoders do not have "dents" meaning that when you turn them it feels like a regular pot.  With detented encoders you feel a click (usually 24).  The Midibox16E requires undetented encoders, Other midiboxes can use both type. I can get some STEC16B03 24 res ALPS encoders for around 1.7$US each, which is pretty cheap.  Only problem, there is a minimum order of 250, so I will need to know if people want some and how many.  If enough people wants some and I reach 250 or more, I can make it ship at my home (Montreal) and ship it to you.  So if you're interested, please post the number of encoders you would like. Thanks, Nat

Ok, 2 weeks ago I didn't know what was a midibox, I was however able to I burn my first PIC today :) I had some troubles in the beggining, burning took a very long time and I had errors at the end. I made the tweaks described by Rowan and suceeded. Only thing, it took maybe 1 minute max to burn and then read, is this normal ? I read on the site it took 3 minutes. It reported no errors, Is my pic burned ? Thanks, Nat

pay_c : did you wait 2 months ?

Wow. I wonder who uses these ribbons in the industry at that price !

In box config, could someone explain me what are the following options : Auto Snapshot Send PC on bankchange Receive PC on bankchange Also, If I want to control Mutes/Solos in Cubase with the midibox16E, will this work like I think : will the led light up if I toggle mute with the mouse ? Will it light off if I toggle it off with the mouse ? Now if I press the button, will it turn on and turn of also ? Thanks, Nat

Thanks, since I will be using the PIC16 to start (might install the PIC18 in the future) I'll try to find Non detented encoders.
-
Same here.. I also tried TI... My samples arrive the say after my order, THAT is quick..
-
Is it still possible to use the midi out directly on the core ? Let's say I want to use the com port for my computer, but I also want to use midi for a synth(not at the same time), it's not possible ?
-
I've been talking with Ian Hurlock about modifying Detented encoders to non detented ones. By doing this, will I benefit from the quadruple resolution feature of the Midibox 16E (using the PIc16...) Thanks, Nat
-
Mouser told me they were detented...
-
Ok, I want to clarify this, if I understand well, with the LTC module, I can install a midi in, a midi out AND the COM port at the same time. I can also connect a midi out to the core, but not a midi in. In that situation, the octocoupler has to be removed Is that right ? Thanks, Nat

Wow nice, these things are too exciting :)

Wow thanks a lot guys. I checked some "making of" photos and realized about the size of the LCD thing. I'm very new to all of this so I have much things to learn. As for the ledrings, I really want them, It's my little fantasy... I know it's gonna be long but it's so nice :) I'll modify it to be in accordance to the 2.54mm norm, if you can give me other tips or tweaks to do in shaffer it will be greatly appreciated. I might put those 4 buttons above the LCD below instead. The 16E has a lot of menu options accesible with buttons so I want to have a couple near the LCD :) Also, last thing, I want to put 16 leds around the encoders (i'm a maniac hehe) any advice on how to draw them in Shaffer, those ones are tooken from the THorsten design... Thanks all !

Don't forget that that might cost you quite a bit... You'll have to use MIOS also, so you'll need to modify some ASM code...
-
You can't... I took a screenshot of the screen by pressing Printscreen on the keyboard, then pasted it in Fireworks...

jeroddumas : you have to put it on a web server...
