How to see if CORE works with midibox16E Firmware
Nat replied to Nat's topic in Testing/Troubleshooting
Oups :) A del is a LED in french :) Got mixed up Thanks for the offer, i'll troubleshoot some more but if nothing works i'll send you a pic with the Encoder package. The strange thing is that the programmation goes fine. It verifies ok. I can then remove the PIC and put it back again, do a read all and the program code is intact.... This gives me the impression the PIC is programmed correctly.... The crystal is good also, 20.000 Mhz with 18 pf capacitance, parrallel.... I really have no clue :( -
How to see if CORE works with midibox16E Firmware
Nat replied to Nat's topic in Testing/Troubleshooting
I was also wondering, is this power supply correct ? INPUT : 120VAC 60Hz 15 watts Output : 13VAC 700mA I've been trying to make my core work for a month and i'm getting pretty desperated... -
Is there an easy way to test the core with the Midibox16E firmware running on a PIC16F877A ? Is it possible to test the core with a del ? I have tried the Test_TX firmware and had no luck so I'd like to try the real firmware. Thanks nat

Ok, here are the ones on top of the list (including me, I took 32 but I'll only take 16 now to let other people get some) NorthenLightX : 32 Pilo : 8 (he agreed to wait for the other batch) Kr8R : 16 jesaipu : 24 pulsewidth947 : 8 Nat : 16 Total : 96 As for the price I don't know yet, I will know tommorow with my cc receipt. In the meantime i'd like EVERYONE who ordered encoders to send me an email containing their forum nick, the number they want (can be less but not more), their name and complete mailing adress. Also confirm the method of payment. You can copy/paste this : Nick : # of encoders : Adress (with name) : Method of payment : This way I'll be able to quote for shipping. Please send the email here : nat[at]studioimaginaire.com, write "Encoders" as the Subject. Thanks, Nat

Ok I talked too soon :) Got the encoders ten minutes after writing the previous message. There's a small problem however, I got only 100 encoders. I called the company and they said the rest was on backorder and that I should expect the balance to arrive by the end of August. So, I was thinking about working this way, I will ship the encoders I currently got to the persons that ordered first. Does that seem fair to all ? If not please tell me, I can also wait to get all the encoders. In between, the encoders are *really* nice, stong build quality, the feeling is incredible, like a normal pot with a very subtle "grind" that reminds you're in the digital domain :) Pretty far from the detented feeling. I can also confirm that these are the encoders used on the Virus rack, they have the exact same feeling :)

Small update, the encoders should arrive soon now, don't worry :) It's vacation time in America so things are slower than usual. Watch this thread for info when I receive them.

The leds can be either mounted on some vectorboard which is screwed to the panel or glued to the pannel with hot glue.

I just checked the specs for the Akai. Note that the STC-1000 has 9 zones in percussion mode, not 16. It has 16 zones in controller zone only. Also, it is single touch, meaning you can't hit 2 pads at the same time. Still a very capable product for the price though..
-
I guess you can order it from anywhere.
-
making them yourself is not that hard, all the wiring schemes are avalaible... you can mix the colors you want and all... Just a thought :)
-
hehe pretty funny that it was more easy to order from Canada...
-
Jedi : this is a possibility. However, if you need 170 of them, I suggest you mail RS-Components england, that's where I got my deal, through the canadian branch of RS... Since RS is a british company, you might have a better price there. If you succeed keep me updated on it.

I have made a site with some info on products that use Tactex touch surfaces. You can visit it here : http://www.studioimaginaire.com/tactex

The encoders were ordered on the 24th of August and they said around 2-4 weeks so I expect them to arrive next week. Once I get them I will post here right away :)

Pretty much all of the info you need is already there, you should study the different modules of the mbhp, once you understand what each module does you'll understand the basics of the sid. If you want a 4 chip sid, you'll need 4 cores, 4 sid modules, and if you want to control it, you'll need som dinx4 modules or ainx modules depending on what sort of control you want over it, as for the soldering iron, between 15 and 30 watts is the way to go, nothing more than that...

I'm in Canada, it,s a store named addison www.addison-electronique.com
-
I don't know for steve but the stuff here is around 1$ for 20cm*20cm. Problem is that I can't find anything larger than that :(
-
Cool thanks, i'll try to find some here but if I'm in desperate need of it i'll ask you :)
-
Thanks ;) I get it now, I'll just have to find some vector board of the good size with solderpad.... the only stuff I see hear is without pads or too small :(
-
Cependant, j'ai demandé à TK et la résolution ne sera pas meilleure, seulement le toucher.
-
Thanks :) The vector board at my store doesn't have any solder pads that's why I didn't get it ..
-
What would be displayed in the extra space ? Thanks, Nat
-
But how does the components stay on the board ? Only with the wire or with some glue ? Thanks, Nat
