Open a datasheet. In the middle of the 1st page you can find the "Explanation of Part Numbers"
- Digits 1-3: ProductCode = fix (it's this type of fader / housing /physical built)
- Digits 4-6: Specification - Q = 60mm type, 1 = single taper (see 2nd page - drawings)
- Digits 7-9: LeverTrims & Dimensions - I think there is only one type available (see drawing)
- Digits 10-12: Taper & Resistance - I think "B" is linear
So you probably want: EWAQ12C15B14

Don't depend too much on the opignons of others. There is propably no other business than audio business where more bullsh... is talked and called out to the world, without having the necessary knowhow to even open the mouth :P

... no, new faders won't make the resolution better. The resolution is given from the AD conversion or in the processing of the controller.

Absolutely! Not doing so is not cleaning but just smearing the dirt around.
Alps recommends to clean the taper with alcohol. This recommandation is for plastic taper. AFAIK, Alpha doesn't produce any plastic taper faders. I think alcohol (aethanol) or isopropylalcohol works for carbon taper just fine.
How about just replacing those cheap faders?

Kannst Du nicht mal ein paar scharfe Fotos Deines MF-Boards posten (beidseitig)?
Ich würde mal auch die Pins der Board-Verbindungen prüfen. Z.B. Das MF-Board vom Core trennen und nach Schema mal die Pins von J2 checken, wo Du welchen Strom drauf hast. Lötstellen von C5 gut prüfen usw.

Ähm, mal ne Frage:
Darf der Gleichrichter auf dem MF-Module überhaupt verbaut sein, oder muss er durch Drahtbrücken ersetzt werden??
... was ist Dein source? AC oder DC?
Grundsätzlich bräuchtest Du den Gleichrichter bei DC nicht, sollte aber kein Proble sein.

... this was not a joke. I think I first saw that on Doc's LC. Actually not multible powersupplies, but multible regulators.
Just redesign the MF board, so you have a regulator (incl. Trimmers, resistors...) for every single fader.

und es zieht ca. 1Ampere an der 12V Stromversorgung.
- Wieviel Strom bringt Deine 12V Quelle?
- Welche Fader - Marke, Typ?
- Alps spezifiziert sämtliche MFs mit Max. .75A - Habe aber noch nie erlebt, dass soviel gezogen wird. 8-Fader ziehen aber locker 1A zusammen
- Wieviel Volt hast Du am Regler (MF-Modul) eingestellt?

I had no idea such things had been successfully used.
... they still are used today. When I was in the Army, I was a tank driver and we had them for internal communication. Since my head stuck out of the driver's "hole" and the engine exhaust was right next to my head, you wouldn't had understand a word from me, since the noise of the V10 engine was so loud. - As I recently saw, they still use them.
I can't make a statement about the sound quality of them, since I only was listening to them over the communication system, which had low-cut at about 300Hz and a big boost at 3k... for better speach understanding.

is this the same with other mergers like the "midi solutions" merge box or "kenton" midi merge or "motu" midi timepiece ?
or is this a midibox merger only behavior because of weak processing power ?

Now, the question is, how to bring the core, that it don't send more than 24 chars per LCD.
This you can do in the lc_hlp, i reckon. I'll test it....

mann mann mann. ich seh schon da muss ne ganze flash animation her. oder ein rhetorik-kurs.
... oder einfach verstehen, wie ein Encoder mit GreyCode funktioniert und halt gleich eine entsprechende Schranke von "Honeywell" verwenden und das 3 Dioden Gebastel lassen.
zum thema "auflösung"
mit nur einer fotodiode würdest du pro loch, dass sich an der LED vorbeischiebt nur einen "tick" bekommen. in dem fall 3 ticks... natürlich kannst du auch mehr löcher ins laufrad kloppen, nur das hat ja auch irgendwo n ende.
Quatsch: Mit einer Diode würde es gar nicht funktionieren und mit 2 bekommst Du einen full-cycle, welcher Dir 4 steps "liefert"
wisst ihr denn wo man gut und günstig so kunstoff(flachriemen)laufräder herbekommt? so 3-6cm durchmesser.
denk mal im modellbau würd da was gehn.
... weshalb nicht gleich Kugellager als "laufräder" nehmen? Die gibt es nicht nur mit flacher äusseren Schale sondern auch mit V- und halbrund-groove (somit zentriert sich der Riemen selbst).
... 3-6cm Durchmesser? - Überleg Dir mal, welche Auflösung Dein Encoder haben müsste, um auf 10cm Slide-Weg noch eine vernünftige Anzahl Schritte zu bekommen (6cm Durchmesser gibt Dir einen Umfang von ca. 18.8cm, was heisst, dass Dein Lafrad gerade mal ein halbe Umdrehung machen würde). Es müssen ja nicht gleich 1024 sein, wie bei einem konventionellen Fader aber ich denke, 256 sollten schon drin liegen.

Buttons and Pots are "Inputs" - you send a status over a DIN/AIN to the core, to tell it, that the button is pressed or the position of the pot.
Your LEDs are "Outputs" - The core sends the status to the DOUT-Board, which controls the LEDs.
