  1. Thanks Moebius, I should be able to build a pretty simple monosynth from that.
  2. I also have these laying around: MC68HC705C8P http://www.jameco.com/wcsstore/Jameco/Products/ProdDS/108919.pdf NE556 http://www.fairchildsemi.com/ds/LM%2FLM556.pdf NE565 http://www2.norwich.edu/jbeneat/ee463/documents_lab/LM565.pdf I use to tinker with broken electronics so this is all just ICs I pulled off boards hoping that one day I would know what to do with them.
  3. Yea I was able to find out what most of them are, I just dont know how to create circuits from scratch. Incidentaly the datasheet for the one you didnt know is here: http://www.ortodoxism.ro/datasheets/nationalsemiconductor/DS010166.PDF I figure the 555, and VCO to be the most useful in an audio application.
  4. Has anyone used one of these? Do they work well for midibox type projects? For those of you that dont know what I am talking about: http://www.thinkgeek.com/pcmods/cables/69d3/
  5. Here is a list of ICs I have just sitting around, Im no good at designing circuits, but I can build them and I have a basic understanding. So anyone have any ideas what I can build that might be fun music wise? I actualy have tons more but I jsut grabe one sheet ot them. 2x NE555 (never have to many of these) 1x LM 566 1x LM10 1x MOC3010 1x LM3080 2x LM311 1x LM567 (gee wonder where this came from) 1x DM7476 1x sn74ls192 1x sn74ls147 2x 74ls173 1x 74ls273 2x DM74121 1x DM74LS13 1x LM741
  6. WOW! Who said you have to spend thousands on hardware synths! That sounds very sexxy, I hope we can hood them in parallel like the sid modules. Imagine 4 of those, 4 sid and a 909 (and my rs7000 for sequencing of course)
  7. Since many of you have probably torn apart many a machines, if anyone happens to have a 128 daughter board for a Lt Kernal laying arould please let me know. I have been unable to find one and I have this 128D here that would welcome it. Additionaly are there any other parts from the c64 mother board that I should salvage, I have one here that I get a power light but no video or anything, was just gona pull the 8580 for my sidbox project.
  8. A Bass pickup array should not pick these up like a normal lead guitar because they are designed to only pick up the lower 2/3's of the audable spectrum and not the whole spectrum, but it is worth trying. If this IS the case you might want to buy some new pickups.
  9. Have you tried cleaning the pot? This is common on guitars for the sound to get staticy if the pot is dirty. There is even special pot cleaner you can get.
  10. Thats interesting, I dont know what waves EEG reads or this device, but if you could set different midi controls for each of the various waves the brain emits you could come ups with some cool sounds.
  11. Glad to be of help or whatever. If anyone has any questions please feel free to ask. I learned how to do this because I have a friend that does custom paint jobs on cars. They use paint that is way more expensive but for these applications I dont think you need paint that coast nearly a grand for a quart. If you use the semi opaqe paint you can get that chameleon look you see on cars where the paing seems to change color as you change viewing angles. This has to do with the reflection of 2 or more wavelenths of light because of interferance. Technical stuff aside, it plain looks cool.

    Help??

[quote name=goyousalukis Each Sid is assigned its own midichannel, and it will respond to control changes on that midichannel. If you have more than one, you can assign them to the same channel, or different channels. You won't need to do any computer programming Thorsten has done it all for us. You just build the module and play. There are also a bunch of example patches that TK has created to show how to make sounds. Justin
  13. I didnt see any place more appropriate to post this. I noticed several people using spray paint from a can to add color to their cases. This is fine and most of the time works great. However, there is a better way. If you have access to an electrostatic paint booth more power to you, but anyone who has done PC case mods is well aware of the extensive process. Most of us have moved to using Createx Auto Air paints. These paints are designed for rugged use on cars. You can learn more about the process and what colors they offer here: http://www.dixieart.com/CreatexAutoAir.html Once you have all your paint on except for the clear coat layers, follow Dr Steven Thomas' excelant instructions for laying out the text and design for the panel lables at: http://monopole.ph.qmw.ac.uk/~thomas/synthdiy/frontpanel.htm Once you have that done you can add your clear coat layers and everythign is nice and protected. Many cars now will have 2-3 layers of clear so that should a scracht happen you can buff it out of the clear and it never reaches the colored surface. This should give your pannels a nice look. With the colors offered by Createx and their tutorials you should be able to come up with some amazing stuff.
  14. This intrests me but is far beyond my current abilities. Is there an easy way to add some more filtering and or DSP to each of the 4 sid units so that each could be controled independantly and simultaneously? Several people have suggested just and external multi-effects unit but most of them you can only adjust 1 channel at a time not all 4. I was hoping there would be something I could add inline to the audio out before mixdown to output from the sidbox. Another thing that I just was thinking about whic h I haven't searched to see if it has been answered yet was, is there a sugested mixer circuit for the 4 stereo chanels down to 1 stereo channel? I know there are tons of schematics on the net so I asked for the suggested one. Another thing, how hard would it be to implement a LFO that ping-pongs the 8 mono chanels to a stereo out with a switch for L/R/Ping-Pong so you can select where the channel is going?
  15. How easy could you use the CFAP2002A-YJC-S with the Midibox SID Control surface? I can assemble an electronic circuit easy with directions but actualy designing and reconfiguring is beyond me so I need to know what would need to be done if it can be used at all. Here is the link to it on their site: http://www.crystalfontz.com/products/CFAP2002M/index.html
