Any Panel-news!? ;D
They are still being reprocessed, I should have some news in the next couple of days
-
However, in future you should try waving a dead chicken over hardware that doesn't work.
This excellent advice, voodoo is my go-to approach when I have a problem that I cant seem to track down. Some cigar smoke, a little hair, and chicken (in live, fried, or nugget form) and bam, problem is solved. I believe the technical term for this is HPFM (hocus pocus, focking magic)
*whack*

excellent! More motivation to break ground on my seq
-
Julien, those will be too short. You need the ones that have an H=13mm
-
I guess we can't complain too loudly, however they have delivered a product that is significantly off-spec. Have you checked that the milling has been done correctly? ie, everything fits!
Personally I think that 'the best they can do' is to get it right in the first place!! Accepting them back for re-screening goes without question.
All dimensions have checked out fine.

Excellent news, well, sort of...
Personally i'd much rather wait, I can't get on with that artwork at all, it looks terribly amateurish, nowhere near as professional looking as Wilba's.
Are you/we going to be compensated by FPE in any way for the delay??
These are not from FPE, the best quote from FPE was $90 per set and $130 at the one off price. This is the place that does the x0xb0x panels. They did accept the panels for redo without question so thats really the best they can do. Should only be a week or so before i get them back
-
UPDATE:
I just talked to them and they are taking responsibility so I am sending them back today to be rescreened.
-
Actually, I do expect the panel to be accurate to the vector render, that's the whole point!! They can obviously produce fine pitched lines, so I find it strange. The more I look at it, the more it bothers me. I guess the panels were cheap enough that it would be churlish to complain, but even so it's not what we ordered.
Its not what I ordered either, I will wait and see what they say.
-
The line weight is definitely off. I checked what I sent them in August and it is correct so I am not sure what happened either. I sent an email off and we will see.

Arrived today:

smash helped me work it out. Apparently, reusing a pic that had another application on it that had those pins disabled was the culprit . I had to wipe the pic and just reload everything from scratch and it works fine now.

PANELS SHIP TO ME TOMORROW!! ;D

Goovy ;D

Bravo TK...

So my CV is pretty much tested and functional except for the gates on the core. I am using a Smash R3 core with a 452 and i do have the R5 port enabled ("1" in the asm) but I cannot get the 6 additional gates to go high. I am assuming that I am supposed to use pins A0-A5? Any thoughts?

I talked to them last week and they are in screening now so hopefully they should be shipping this week

so:
#if DEFAULT_ENC_DATAWHEEL >= 0
ENC_ENTRY 1, 4, MIOS_ENC_MODE_DETENTED2 ; Data Wheel
and thats it?
-
I am finishing up my CV and have a questions about using the bourns/Smashtv encoders. The bourns parts seem to skip 2 steps for every detent (the alpha ones I have for another project work fine). Where exactly do I specify "encoder2" if that is the solution?

ALL GONE
-
If you are referring to:
Mouser Part No: 318-ENC160F-24P
Alpha Part No: RE160F-40E3-20A-24P
I believe these are fine. You've obviously confirmed the other aspects (pin spacing, etc.). I think someone else linked to ALPS parts from the wiki, but the 25mm length is not the same as the ones I have, which are 20mm length, so overall height above PCB is 26mm. Therefore, the alpha encoders you see there are practically identical to mine. I've updated the parts list.
I can confirm that with 26mm overall height, the Waldorf knobs push on the whole way with about 0.5mm gap between knob and panel.
I am using those and all seems good. They are simple to take apart also for removing the detent

For ppl looking for the clear ones (just clear), I have 8 sets available. Please see this thread:
-
I ended up cleaning out the ALBs clear parts and have 8 sets of 15 pcs available. For everyone who has panels on order IN THE US ONLY, I can ship these for free with your panel which should be next week. This is first come first serve since there is a very limited number of these.
Sets are $27 ea. with $9 shipping for Canada and $11 for the rest of the world as before. I CANNOT combine shipping with your panels if you are outside the US since they will not fit in a flat rate envelope along with the panels and related packing.
Same drill as before, send me an email to altitude909 at g mail dot com with "albs knobs" in the subject and your paypal address and I will send a invoice like before

I they are due on the week of the 19th
