  1. Have you seen the red Moog that the white stripes were using at Glastonbury this year? Now that looks cool!
  2. Sorry to hear you're having a rough time Sasha. I guess I should stop moaning about the taxman taking all my money and things and look at how good my life really is. Do you still need that Mahogany??
  3. Sounds like a great idea if you ask me, are you wanting the PIC/AVR to replace the RAM etc, and address the VIC chip directly? I've no idea if it's even possible, but i'd guess it is. Personally, i'd settle for an extra core module that can connect to the MBSID to produce visualisations according to how the SID's are being addressed (like Media Player, but more lo-fi). Now that would make a great backdrop for live stuff.
  4. Exactly, and MBSID has so many more possibilities! I'd like to build a dedicated 'Bassline box' that I can use live, rather than cart about the 8xSID monster Wiba's designed ;) Maybe we can work on something together, further down the line.
  5. So it's possible to set it up to change between patterns immediately, or at the end of each bar? That's a really nifty little function for sure. Is there a way to chain patterns on the MBSID itself, rather than selecting them externally? Not essential, but would be cool.
  6. I'm stupidly excited by the features that V2 is offering now! I'd previously been considering building a x0xb0x, but I really don't need to now! Oh, and that bit about polyrhythms made my brain hurt a little bit ;)
  7. Hey Wilba, is my order included in that lot? I didn't hear back from you regarding the monetary mix up ::)
  8. That's cool then. I'll be available friday night, which i'd assume is your early morning, and Saturday afternoon too, so it's all good!
  9. Stryd, thou art a LEGEND! Where are you located? Think there may be a time differential to contend with, but i'm up for it for sure.
  10. Of that, I have no doubt at all! But as I said, I don't have the tech skills to know which bits are needed and which are not, so I guess it's a non starter. I don't think that this app would benefit from having the two long LCD's and 16 knobs. It would be just as easily programmed using a 2x20 LCD, encoder and some buttons. Think MBSID step A. In which case, MBSeq is massively overcomplex.
  11. I voted red, because i'm a sucker for red on black. Plus it will match the LCD i'm planning to use. Failing that, an opaque white or clear run would be just fine too, since it will be suitable for use with other designs and colours.
  12. Ok, looks like that could work for sure, but it's a bit unwieldy for the specialised purpose I had in mind. It literally only needs to be able to sequence for CC11, so no note info is needed at all.
  13. Ermm, ok great, I think. Actually no, you've lost me! How do I do it? EDIT: Sorry, I don't want to look like an idiot here, but I have absolutely no skills when it comes to programming. By using ain_notifychange, does that mean I use a pot to scroll through values in a lookup table? If so, my thinking is that the notes can be entered onto an LCD screen, and only one encoder and a few buttons would be needed. Maybe have say 16-LED's to show which step it's on. As I say, this isn't something i'd be able to code myself, I know that for sure since I don't have time to learn enough to get me to this standard (I already work two jobs), but if somebody was willing to do the code, i'd certainly do all the hardware stuff. I know at least three of my friends would jump at the chance to have one of these on their pedal board.
  14. I'm wondering if there's anybody here that can help me. I'm looking to build a controller pedal for my Whammy WH4. I want a box that will allow me to sequence MIDI values between 0-127 on channel CC11, and possibly a bank select switch on CC0. My thinking is that I could use 16 sliders to control the notes in the sequence, and control the tempo or whatever through an encoder and LCD. Perhaps the LCD could be used to bring up presets? So, does this sound like something that could be viable?

Yep! How did you find the staff? The one's in London aren't too bad, but i've been in Maplins all over the country and have come to the conclusion that they generally only employ rude and ignorant staff, but maybe that's just me. Actually it's funny, my local Maplins is round the corner from my studio, so i'm there a lot. They keep trying to give me a job.. ::)
  16. Dammit. It's worthless now, I guess you better send it to me for disposal...

I think that's what they call matrix board, with small copper rings around each hole. I like that more than perfboard, which is plain phenolic with no copper on. You could use stripboard too, but it's easier to get shorts with that if you're not careful. I say go with the matrix board. It's all just as expensive, I think last time I was in there, a 1" x 4" piece was £4.50 or something, which is scandalous!
  18. I'm assuming you're making them from plastic? If so, i'd imagine it would help keep costs down. Personally, I don't think plastic's a bad idea, good stuff's pretty durable (3mm upwards). Are you in the UK?
  19. I'd be seriously impressed if Albs re-manufactured those knobs for us! If the do, are they going to be clear or coloured 'windows'?
  20. Even including that, it's often cheaper to import stuff believe it or not!
  21. Yep, looks like you're missing your ground plane! It's not the end of the world, you can just connect up all the missing grounds, which would be less time consuming than re-doing all the PCB's. For what it's worth, the Eagle layout for the MBHP PIC burner is missing a ground connection anyway, can't tell you how much hassle that's caused me!
  22. I think it would be a little easier if you were a UK distributer, but as you say it would probably be a lot cheaper to source things from the US, especially with the current exchange rate.
  23. Excellent, in that case i'll be making my payment in a short while Any news on how much the panels will cost?
  24. Just a quick question, I don't know if you've considered this Wilba. Paypal charges a fee to receive money doesn't it? I think it's not much, but for an order approaching 50, it will add up! I was just wondering if you'd accounted for this when you sent out the paypal stuff. If so, i'll pay mine today!
  25. Yeah that's even cooler, i'm guessing you could set up a track in your sequencer to send note events and that will change the patterns. How cool is that! Would this work in a non 303 mode too? I'd have it set up so that my drummer (who uses a roland V-Kit) could trigger different patterns from the kit. Now that would be cool!
