  1. Hi After upgrading to v3 my encoders now only work when turning left..... All 17 encoders. I double checked by changing to 452 pic (to exclude any wireproblems), and with 452 the encoders works both ways. Anyone experienced this? Have I missed something important? I know TK is using som special encoders thus the two version on seq v3, I am 100% sure, that I uploaded the correct version :-) Best regards Ole
  2. I think the hardware bit of this may be the easiest part.... how do you plan the software? Do you plan to customize mios to utilize the extended modes of the card ? When I used the xg as standalone module, I was not very happy with the "normal" sounds from the card. I was quite impressed when I heard a well programmed xg midi song,,, I think it can be hard to do that in mios..... Back then I also used Sw1000Xg with plg100vh add on. Would be kewl to use the plg cards as standalone..... not sure if someone has done that yet..
  3. Fyi: I've sent my pic to TK for debugging. I guess we can put this thread on hold until TK solves the puzzle.
Mvh Ole Peder
  5. Got a reply from Mike: "I checked the hexfile for the bootloader for the PIC 18F4620. It is called bootloader V1_2a." I tried to send the sysex, but no response received back. Only: TIMESTAMP IN PORT STATUS DATA1 DATA2 CHAN NOTE EVENT 00000767 1 -- F0 Buffer: 8 Bytes System Exclusive SYSX: F0 00 00 7E 40 00 01 F7 .. .. .. Many thanks for taking time to help me out!
  6. oh..... sorry.. I didn't see the post... The pic was programmed by Mike this week. I'll send an email asking for those details now.
  7. I sent the sysex, but can't find any sign of life,,, not a blip in lcd's nor leds, nor any change in Midi Monitor In. same sysex "Hal" message ;-) (I'm alive)
  8. I've tried to force an upload, me inserting midi out just until it start sending data..... no mios I tried to upload v3 app, but same error message (Error: Received unexpected Upload Request) In desperation, I'm now trying to get the Roland serial driver going, and hopefullt be able to use the ltc module as path to upload mios Doh!.... The driver is installed (W98) in my XP pc.... but I can't select the Roland serial as midi source in mios studio (nor in midiox) Is the ltc method a path to follow? Or will it lead to even less hair? Ole P
  9. Both the pullup resistor and bypasscaps are implemented in my rev og core module. I find it strange that the 452 pic behaves so nice and the 4620 pic beeing such an arse.... I suspect the 4620 bug is the root cause here, and I guess if I could make the pic id to be 0000000000001000.... I might be able to upload mios after bypassing the midiout on the core.
  10. The display is blank. I initially disconnected the ltc, but connected it again to better debug. (I've tried to upload mios without ltc) I have also tried to upload without feeedback from core. same result, only fewer errormessages.
  11. Well from the wiki:http://www.midibox.org/dokuwiki/doku.php?id=mios_pic18f4620 Proposal for Beginners/Electronic Newbies: * buy a preprogrammed PIC18F4620 from SmashTV or Mike with PIC ID 0000000000000000 * build the core module and test the MIDI In/Out of the board * upload the PIC18F4620 version of MIOS via the MIDI Out port of the Core module * build a MBHP_IIC_MIDI module and test it like explained at the MBHP_IIC_MIDI page * select the ID 10 (both jumpers stuffed) * upload the iic_midi_10.hex binary of the change_id package, this will change the PIC ID to 0000000000001000 * now the MIDI out stream is redirected to the MIDI Out port of the MBHP_IIC_MIDI module, you don’t need to use the MIDI Out port of the core module anymore (even for code uploads it’s not required anymore) Is this not the proper way to do it? As my pic now has ID 0000000000000000 and I have no burner, how do I change the ID? I honestly thought I could upload MIOS without the IIC attached...
  12. Hi I received my V3 parts today, and immediately soldered the IIC Midi together and mounted the new pic (4620) Trouble..... omph.... I can't upload mios to the new pic. After heavy forum search (4 hours....) I still have not solved this puzzle. Facts: Core module with 4620 pic The 4620 was ordered with PIC ID 0000000000000000 DIN and DOUT as mbseqV2 LTC module attached on J11 (showing both midi in and out activities during upload attempts, and only Out when idle) Tried both and USB midi interface and a sblive midi io Poweradapter: 7,5V/1A (as used in V2) When trying to upload mios_v1_9d_pic18f4620.hex, I get error from mios studio: Starting upload of mios_v1_9d_pic18f4620.hex Hex file contains code in MIOS range, forcing reboot! I've tried to reset the pic, and reupload,,, same result. I changed back to the 452 pic, and tried the same as above. 100% sucsess I then uploaded seq V2 with full sucsess too.. Does the 4620 need more current than V2 (I really thing 7,5/1A should be enough) Any hot tips? This was very close...... I'll cry my pillow wet tonight..... but as allways...... things will turn out fine in the end...I'm 100% shure it will ;-) Hope someone can assist me
  13. Some mp3 files in here....... http://www.pcavtech.com/soundcards/MIDI/index.htm
  14. no sh*t..... no wonder it sounded crappy on my laptop...... hahaha.... I am terrible sorry.....
  15. So you mean the flexibility in mios, is better to "easily" modify the code to fit your needs? And the MPB3 is not that flexible (the MPB3 does what it is designed for, and is not easy to re-code for individual needs?)
  16. On this page there are 4 examples.... not sure if they use the XG to the max tho..... http://atari.nvg.org/db50xg/
  17. Hi Did a jam with a friend last night, with midibox seq, Creamware Noah, Cme5, Korg Elevtribe + a nn Guitar echo box -ish (and my not so rock solid laptop) Discovering that my cme5 only had 1 midi out, made it near impossible to sync all our stuff together (a guitar delay-loop box as clock master - with only midi out),,,, i had to use midiox on my laptop to get thing going...... I rather leave the instable stuff home (windows pc) I stumbeled over an interesting page regarding a midi router diy: http://m.bareille.free.fr/mpb3/mpb3.html I also found a thread in German: http://www.midibox.org/forum/index.php?topic=8400.msg58550#msg58550 Now.... Have anyone here built the MPB3 or the Midibox Midi router ? How do the two compare? I still fawor the idea to build it myselves rahter that buing a M-Audio midi router / Moto, etc... Any thouhts out there? (I know the thread also excist in the German forum, .... I can read German,,, but not write well written German)
  18. I had a 1U DB50XG some years ago.. I didn't convert any TTL signals (afaik), If I remember correctly, I just created a plexiglass case and powered it up. I had a reset switch, audio, midi and power connection. Used it a couple of years. Maby I was lucky.... have you tried (without TTL conversion)?
  19. I just wanted to update my own old thread in case anyone else experience this in the future.... I have during the last week removed all the connections to/from the front panel, rebuilded the front panel internals on a new veroboard and rewired to the core / din / dout. Woilaa!!! "bug" magically vanished...... I guess my previous "spaghetti" wires was the cause of error in this case.... Doh!!!! The unic can play 4ever.... I can even adjust the brighness to the full on the lcd's too ;-) As all is working finally...... it's time to move on..... V3 parts ordered......
  20. Tried a 7VDC 1200mA adapter today, but same darn thing again.... I guess it's not my year...... I simply love the mbseq the time it's stable, so I will continue the quest I'll try to reset the pic, and reupload the firmware again... If this fails, I'll order the PIC18F4620. As I have the LTC module, do I need the PIC16F88 to get midi with the new pic? Kind regards Ole Peder
  21. hi The 7805 does not get very hot at all, I have good cooling (guess it's about 40 degrees celcius) 5 volt is stable even when mbseq goes loco.... (Power input is 10v 1000mA DC) Ole P
  22. Hi After 4-10 minutes my seq start acting weird, it is not the wires or something like that, cause it all start well.... When powering on the unit, the vesion and all shows in the display, and all funtions/leds/lcd's behaves normally. however after some minutes of use(can be up to 20 minutes, it suddenly goes loco on me.... .buttons is no longer mapped to the normal function, and lcd & leds blinks and shows nonsense values. It transmits weird stuff on the midi out too (in some occations wonderful weird stuff... but is rather annoying in a live situation) The only sollution to this, is to reboot the mbseq. To me it seems likely that this is related to the core/pic, as I said, after a reboot, all works well again... Someone here experienced this before? What was the sollution? Can I have a bad pic? Best regards. Ole Peder, Norway
  23. Hi I am about to purchase an Electribe ER1 to use together with my mbseq, I borrowed an Electribe from a friend of mine this weekend to test...... I want to use the sequecer in mbseq and use the internal sounds of the electribe. I also want to utilize the tempo tapping functionality of the electribe. I can't make mbseq sync to external midi, maby I'm both blind and dumb,,,,, but I canæt find this in any menus of the mbseq... Hope some1 can assist me :-) Best regards Ole Peder
