  1. the spacers also exist with screw at one extremity : use nuts in this case (M3).

I tested the bassline 1 & 2 patches yesterday with stereo : What a Fuck !!!!!!! but a drummachine behind and your are the new Daft Punk ! It is really much better than sid v1.7 with 6581. TK has won a lot of "this DIY project rocks!" from me and I still wonder if he will present it at NAMM ?!

    Cheers

  2. Hi buddies !

I paid tonight for the PCB. I have a lot of questions : how many peoples involved, who's doing what (Jaicen collects money, Sasha does PCB, who's hunting rare components ?), who will be the panel manufacturer, will Sasha produce illuminated buttons ?.

I think we should try to find an elegant manner to title the topics in the ucapps forum ; why not starting them by [x0x] ? Is there a chief to manage all the tasks ?

    Cheers

  3. well i have once again crucial questions :

1- considering the picture of Narwhal, how do you do to put a display with a height of 10 mm in contact with the panel ? i have bought this display, the one recommended in the wiki as surface control partlist and done all the assembly, not yet jb weld. Moreover, i have soldered all the switches , and a good alternatvie would have been to put smaller ones and grind the encoders..

    just to understand :

    spacers = 10mm

but display screwed to the CS PCB has only a height of 5/6mm (10mm -- PCB thickness which is 2mm -- soldering blurb of the alps tact switches which makes 2mm == 6mm). So there are 4mm missing ! that's a big hole. I've been thinking to put a piece of glass or plexiglas in order to reach the down face of the panel but it isn't aesthetical.

2- relative to the 4 screws jb-welded in the 4 corner of the panel : how do you do to fix them to the pactec ???? if you let them like this, when you'll shake the box, panel will move.

I wonder if i shouldn't drill the panel...

    Any good trick welcome.

    Cheers

  4. come on wilba... HURRY!!!!!

    >:(

    I hope it was ironic.

Take the time Wilba. But I were you I would not test all the chips, just make a random test. But maybe don't you want to fight with returns. 8)

Personally the 2 chips you sold me more than 6 months ago are working very well  :D

    Cheers

  5. I received mine today.

The first thing I 'd like to say is thanks a lot to Altitude. This is certainly the best parcel I ever received.

The second thing is the quality of the panel isn't optimal : some default in the silk-screen and some scratch on the panel. Who's the manufacturer ?

But I definitly don't want to return it and wait 2 months again. Maybe part refunds ?

    Cheers

  6. If you are really interested into x0x, I advise you to read all the posts here. If you still need more information, feel free to ask. Just for your information, this is final stage of collecting money for PCB ordering.

what's the difference between your pcb and the layada pcb ? personnaly, i think that the price is quite the same, and as there are more than 80 PCB available on layada.net, it's hard to me to understand the interest of another source (you).

But your panel and your buttons are much nicer.

In consequence i tell that i am not interested by your pcb batch (if it is the same as Limors one), but i am interested by the panel and buttons batch and the rare parts. If i can help for this, let me know.

    Best regards

[edit] : i did not check the first post==> PCB is different. I will read the full assembly manual of limor to see if parts are hard to find in France, check your design and his design and tell you tomorrow if i am in. cheers

  7. Hi Sasha. i could be interested by this x0x bulk (just discovered). But do you know if it will be easy to get the rare parts ? Does somebody hunt them ? did you design the panel for the illuminated buttons ? who will program atmel ? will you sell those amazing buttons ?

The advantage of the layada x0x is that everything is ready to build, the problem is the waiting list. I am waiting since a very long time to get the x0x, so could you please make a check up telling the exact number of people interested, and what must still be done. Do you think that the bulk is possible if we are only 10 people (for PCB and Panel) interested?

    Regards

  8. it has been sold with a lot of extra : SID PCB, DINX4 PCB, DOUTX4 PCB, 4x 24LC256 , 3x 24LC512 , lots of tact switches ,headers, sockets, encoders , ribbon cable, connecting stuff, 6582A, 2x 18F4685, severals R & C, VR, etc ... for less than that. Sorry but thanks for your proposal.

  9. you can also look at the machinedrum. its sequencer is equivalent to 4 SEQ chained together ! and it is quite cheaper today. It has the possibility to create MIDI kit, assigning each of the 16 parts (intrument ) to a different midi channel, with 3 notes by step, length on each note, and 8 CC by step too. CC number can be changed for each step.

16 or 32 steps. but it doesn't have the fun arp function and reverse function.

another solution is to work with a software like ableton and a control surface (midibox64 or voirinov for example).

go to schneider buro, there is Signal Arts Performance Sequencer, Cyclus and Schrittmacher (hybrid between machinedrum and ucapps seq). my favorite is : Mungo Enterprises Infinite Horizon (very impressive and clever! it composes music by itself) by infos about are very rare.

    cheers

  10. I remember that I plugged J15 the wrong way on a noname device (from Conrad) some time ago - it destroyed the LCD immediately. J
if i plug the D0-D7 line in the other line of J15, will it destroy the display ? cause i did it (ona conrad equivalent display) and now i only have the black row of start ,and then a blank screen.  :'( it was working before ...
  11. Hi

i am trying to recompile the mbsid v2 for a minimal control surface (i do it while waiting the panel and the tact switches ... so long, i love this bassline) and i did as i used to do with sidv1.7. But unsuccessful, MPLAB gives a lot of "Address exceeds maximum range for this processor."

i am editing mb8580.asm and "quickbuild option". If i don't edit the .asm and just try to quickbuild, i got the problem too !

    What's the problem ?

    thanks in advance

  12. maybe showing 3 "rows" of a wavetable or bassline sequence.
same idea ! crazy this bassline stuff, so cool to jam onto :)

my Novation KS4 got a fucking good function exploiting 2 lines : on the first the value of the modulated parameter (by the knob you are moving) and on the 2nd, the value of this parameter stored in the patch (idea of undo function, without using a buffer)

two lines should be used AFTER they have finished their MB-6582 and played with it a while
    totally agree
  13. Hi

I know it is a bit late to ask this, but wouldn't have been a good idea to add 5 buttons up the display, in order to use the 4x20 display with 10 menu buttons ?

I there a possibiliy to use the 4 lines of the display ?

What has to be rewritten (or improved) and what would be your ideas ? Personnaly, i stay with the 10 menus buttons, i think what the second part (2 down lines) of the display could be selected by the button "down arrow" and one of the 5 menu buttons (a bit like CTRL+C).

    Cheers
