  1. I may have sold it, depends on if the guy decides to keep it. I'll post here and let you know if it's sold or not. Thanks.
  2. Not to get too off topic... but it's not a loose connection, because when the case is vented (opened totally, or a small crack, etc.), it works fine for as long as it's plugged in. As soon as you close the case, it starts to reset after the heat has built up sufficiently (15 minutes or so). It's hard to see, but in the current case, there are absolutely no air holes—at the time I didn't realize how hot the sid can get! I will be listing it soon for the cost of the components and I'll be throwing in a couple of cores I didn't use and some other assorted parts that would be helpful in putting it into a new case. Thanks to everyone for their input!
  3. So is that a yes or a no or ? Thanks! :twitch:
  4. That would be awesome! I've used Max4Live a little bit and it has been great—it would be great to have that for the MB-6582. Unfortunately, I'm a novice at Max, so I can't be of much help, except I would be happy to test anything out! Keep us updated on your progress (if you get that far!).
  5. Sorry... typo. Should be fixed now!
  6. Hello... I just finished (well, I'm really, really close, just waiting on some dual gang pots!) my stereo MB 6582 which I love but now I won't be using my SID V1 that I made a few years ago. So, I would like to request permission to sell my SID V1 on the Midibox forum. If approved, what's a reasonable price for it? All parts were bought from Smash TV (and the LCD from Crystal Fontz) and I pulled the 6581 from a commodore 64 I purchased for $40.00. I don't have a SID power supply for it, so it is currently powered by two wallwarts. It's in a case I made myself, but the case needs vents added to it because it gets too hot and restarts the PIC (or it just needs a new case). Thank you for your consideration and assistance. Here's a photo (it now has a knob on the menu encoder)
  7. Looks like I fixed it somehow? Taking the SIDs in and out one last time seems to have done the trick. Huh. Well, if it keeps working, I'm happy!
  8. is so close to finishing the MB 6582 I can almost taste all 8 bits...

  9. First, thank you to everyone! I've managed to almost finish my MB 6582 by only searching the forum and using the other Midibox sites (of couse, I have made a SID V1 before)! I'm really close, here's my situation. The control surface works great, no problems at all. I'm using two SIDS, I've got the left channel sounding good, but the right channel is really quiet and very very crackly (and sometimes silent, like on the first lead patch). I've found similar posts but can't seem to solve the problem for my particular situation. Just measuring voltage differences between U2_SID1 and U1_SID1 I've found these inconsistencies: U2_SID1: pin 14: 2.46 pin 25: 6.09 U1_SID1: pin 14: 0.01 pin 25: 6.09 R22_SID1: 5.08 R2_SID1: 0.00 Any ideas or suggestions on what to check? Is the SID dead? Which SID is the right audio channel? I tried re-heating/soldering the U1_SID1 socket joints but that didn't seem to do anything. Thank you in advance for your help!
  10. Count me in for a complete order... I'm also in California.
  11. Go through the software setup carefully. I don't remember my exact setup, but I remember installing plumstone, I used Mios Studio for uploading to the core and I think I also used Midi Monitor to see what was going on in general with midi and my computer.
  12. Definitely go through the midi trouble shooting guide, 2 or 3 times (or more) carefully. I went through it several times and took a break (sometimes a few days or weeks break can really help with problem solving—and your social life!). Then I got back to it someone suggested the optocoupler and it worked. But stryd_one is right, you don't want to start throwing tons of parts at it until you're satisfied that you've isolated the problem. Which is key: isolate the problem. I would say, the biggest thing is to be methodical and don't jump ahead of yourself until you're satisfied with your test results. Take notes if you need to. Keep at it, it may take a while but eventually you'll get it.
  13. point taken! just offering my experience. I seem to remember this part causing a lot of problems in the past. But obviously, many things could cause this, so by all means, follow the tests, post the logs, etc. Just something to consider.
  14. Sounds like the problem I had... could be a bad optocoupler. It's a pretty easy/cheap thing to try. Also, I use a mac, and once I fixed the optocoupler, no more problems!
  15. Just using two wall warts, one for the SID one for the Core. In the photo I only have the one plugged in for the core. Makes it a little more photogenic ;) !
