  1. The LCD only has 14 pins from the LCD spec sheet I matched pin for pin to the core... Spec sheet here... http://www.serialwombat.com/parts/LCD-107.pdf Upon noticing on the spec sheet I see this... 4 BIT/8BIT Selectable 4 BIT: DB4 - DB7 8 BIT: DB0 - DB7 I have DB0 - DB7 connected from the core to the LCD so I should ditch DB0 - DB3 connections... Thanks for mentioning 4 Bit this would of taken me awhile to figure out...
  2. Okay I'll check the connections.... I am using the latest MIOS and the latest PIC form smashtv.... 4bit I have no idea? So I should not be rushing out to buy a new LCD just yet....
  3. All right I managed to upload the latest MIOS version and (main LCD hex) to the core and all went well as far as I can tell... Connected my 2x24 LCD and nothing... First off one end of the LCD is hardwired to the core the other end is connected via ribbon connector... Wiggled the ribbon connector and had bars appear on the LCD then they dissappeared wiggled a few more times they appreared and disappeared... Now several minutes later of intermittent wiggling I am getting no bars.... Try'd the LCD debug in MIOS Studio and config'd the LCD for 2x24 but nothing... Could I have possible burned out the LCD or may I have a flaky ribbon connector... I suspect a flaky connector because it was epoxy'd to the LCD but I managed to get it apart with some brute force and ignorance... Thanks... cosmosuave.
  4. I plan on using mine in the studio and for live pa gigs with Ableton Live and a Nord Micro Modular... Currently building one and have just finished the core, 2 sid, and the din modules...
  5. Well I have started construction on my MB SID which I am going to name sidated (hopefully no one has named theirs that yet)... I am building the stereo version with the 6581 chip... Last night I finished constructing the core/DIN/and 2 sid modules that I purchased from Smash TV... All I can say is that the quality of the PCB's are excellent and the way everything is packed is awesome... Today I will do the tests on the boards whith the IC's removed... Next task will be mounting a 2x24 LCD, encoder, and the 11 buttons on some perf board and source some ribbon cabling and connectors... I will post pics here to document the construction process... Should have some pics up by tomorrow... bri. Ok here are some pics... 2x24 LCD and button controls.... Core module SID module DIN module
  6. Thanks... Yes lots of reading which I have been doing and lots of bookmarks... Yes I have the right chips 6581 just a typo ...
  7. Just like to say hello as this is my first post... I'm just gearing up to start construction on a Stereo SID using a pair of 6158 chips... I have just started sourcing parts and acquired a 2x24 LCD and would like to know if this will be acompatible which I think it should be... I plan a purchasing the modules from Smash TV and am looking to build the minimal unit with LCD/Bankstick/Encoder/and the 10 or so buttons to control it.... Is it my understanding that if I contstruct the a stereo SID that the SID V2.x for it is still under BETA stage and will this effect the pre programmed PIC from Smash TV if the V2 O/S is upgraded? I apologize if these questions have been asked a multitude of times...
