  2. Coulda sworn I posted the link... http://www.electricdruid.net/index.php?page=projects.envgen7
  3. Here are some interesting PIC-based ADSR and LFOs that would look GREAT in a MIDIBOX ;) Keep in mind the non-commercial, personal-use/educational license, but besides that, it looks great :) Nice documentation and everything.
  4. *bump* Since this idea was last dug-into, there have been some interesting developments in the AY-3-8912 world. Check out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/General_Instruments_AY-3-8912#Uses about the Viterbi Search, It's really neat. Music sample played on a Philips VG-8020 demonstrating the Viterbi encoded AY sample player :o :o :o (The VG-8020 has the AY-3-8910 inside) I wonder what kind of processor we'd need to calculate Viterbi on-the-fly ??? Edit: I guess I should have wiki-searched 8912 instead of 8910... http://www.midibox.org/dokuwiki/midibox_ay_3_8912?s=3+8912.. Still leaves the Viterbi question open though.
  5. I usually check out 411 Tech Systems first, They've got a 20x4 for $10.99, and ship to Canada. (Be ready to expect the usual $5 inspection fee at the border)
  6. Of course, AllElectronics redesigned the site, and now those links don't work anymore >:(
  7. Hmm, as a new option, check out the (fully embeddable) Mibbit, it runs on AJAX. No Java, No Flash, just good ol' Javascript and XML ;D http://www.mibbit.com/
  8. I just saw the "SNES APU on a PC" link on Hack-A-Day, and immediately ran over here to post about it, but it looks like I was beaten to it! :o
  9. More illuminated buttons, this one a little less sexy, but still functional. http://blog.makezine.com/archive/2008/04/how_to_make_your_own_illu.html
  10. I found Mibbit (http://www.mibbit.com/), an AJAX-based IRC client, which you can embed in an IFRAME.
  11. NO REPLY FOR YOU! COME BACK 1 YEAR! ;D
  12. So, a SwinSIDx2 module? Sweet ;D So, do you have a circuit diagram and need a layout, or do you need both?
  13. Not to put off the current chat room, but it would be a lot easier (for me, at least) to be able to connect with IRC. Here are some reasons, from my point of view: Leaving a window open just to have chat is kind of a pain, and also a hog There's no visual notification of a new message, only sound. (I have sounds turned off so as not to disturb others) I already have an IRC app running (Many people will have [Windows] MIRC, Trillian, Pidgin, etc, or [linux] xIRC, Kopete, Pidgin, etc) You can get IRC clients for many different platforms We could always use PJIRC (http://www.pjirc.com/main.php) for the "Chat" page, which would allow us to connect by way of other applications, too ;D Just a suggestion ;D --Shadyman

  15. Hey folks, I figured this might be useful: http://www.hackaday.com/2008/01/20/backlight-your-lcds/
  16. US, they're 60V AC for a ring, IIRC
  17. Check Wikipedia: SID Emulation Links
  18. Looks like the MAX6954 or MAX6955 would work well to drive these things.
  19. Hey folks, I found a fairly simple function generator schematic. It may be fun to point its output to a sound chip or two ;D http://www.zianet.com/erg/FG_LITE_Rev_0.html Cheers,
  20. Ooh. 3x Broken/parts C64s. Great for cases, and they say there's at least 1 good SID (most likely 6581) in the lot. http://cgi.ebay.com/3-Defective-Commodore-64-computers-for-parts-or-repair_W0QQitemZ110207806381QQcmdZViewItem
