  1. Nice cords, but they remind me too much of Stryper!

hahahaha  Sorry, I had to share that terrible piece of history.  ::)

man...  i used to love stryper! ::)  Foona!  your stuff is looking better and better every time i check this thread!  great work man!  soon, hopefully, i'll have some new projects to post pictures of...

  2. 1. it depends on the machine you are planning on working with

    2. for binary codes (i.e. ROMs) you need EPROMs, generally 2764 or 27128 chips

    3. you need an EPROM programmer and an EPROM eraser

    4. you need a PCB with the right pin alignment of the cart port on your machine.

i.e. unless you plan on having one ROM per cart, you're better off getting a Smart or Multi cart for your machine to run multiple ROMs.  the problem though, is finding a program that will allow you to transfer the ROMs from a PC to your machine... for example, APE(software) and a SIO2PC cable (which there is also a SIO2SD now!) for the ATARI computers or 64HDD(software) and an XE1541 cable for the C64.

  3. what does being young have to do with it?  are you an experience solderer?  the MBFM calls for a little SMD soldering which can be quite intimidating and has been known to fry a few IC's...  you may want to stick with the MBSID if it's your first project.

  4. hey buhler, I noticed that my PLED is very noisy in my MB-6582, do you notice any noise caused by your PLED? i.e. if you powered on with the PLED disconnected, do you notice a big difference in noise (ground noise)? Can you hear a different pitch of noise depending on what is being displayed on the screen?

i actually haven't noticed but i wouldn't rule out the possibility...  i'm in the middle of a big move so i can't test it but i will definitely check once i'm settled in my new place.  i did test another LCD when i was troubleshooting my PLED and i didn't notice any difference in noise levels... i am using 6581's though and you're using 6582's so there may be a huge difference in what's audible in the background noise.  i'll get back to you on this one.

  5. They should be small anyway, and you don't know what the MP3 encoding will do to the sound. Not a good call. Wav files are the go for testing like this. WMA would be worse still. If you must compress, go lossless, FLAC.

i didn't even consider artifacting... woops!  my bad.  i was just saving him the frustration of trying to upload files that were too big... just trying to help. ;D

  6. How do I post the wave files? There doesn't seem to be an "attachment" option on this forum.

right under the comment box, there's a little plus(+) button with "additional options..." next to it.  click the plus(+) button and away you go.  i would recommend however, converting them to .mp3 or something similar for file size limitations.  anyway, i hope that helps.

  7. Just got home yesterday ;-) To simplify things, please contact me via skype or ICQ. Dual-pokey support is on the wishlist and planned for, it's not in any way working yet though.

no prob.  i'll need to setup an ICQ or skype account but i won't be able to focus on this for another week or so...  i'm really excited.  i've been messing with RMT to get my fix until i can get my POKEY modules working. ;D  in ICQ, do i just click the "flower" under your name to get your account?  thanks a lot nILS!

  8. I do have the wave files I made from recording audio from the Creative Music Synth. I use Adobe Audition or Wavelab to record the audio.

you should post them!!  we would all love to get in on the "whining surreal rejuvenation!"  but seriously, i think we would all love to hear these recordings to get a grasp on what you have been talking about.

  9. I've got a software version that basically let's you play notes and push values into the registers manually - I'll post that here as soon as I gert back home next weekend.

are you home yet???  just joking!  i'm in the middle of a move so i won't be able to work on my box for another week or two.  just out of curiosity, can this "POKEY app" support two POKEY modules from one core?  i've built two modules so far but was planning on just building one core and connecting them the same way you would connect the two SID modules...  would that work?  thanks nILS!

  10. well mate, see you speaking to me in hebrew or russian  :P

    just try  :D

no hard feelings man!!  i just don't hear many people use "ain't" when english is their second/third, etc. language.  i'd love to learn Hebrew!  i know Spanish, Greek some Latin and i'm learning Japanese at the moment.
