Just be careful of the levels of frequencies around 33Hz, supposedly the ground note. Can be very enjoyable for ladies i'm told, but can also open up your bowls a little bit ;)
i lol'd!! ;D ;D

depending on what value of pots you use... you can compensate for the jitter with a filter capacitor for every pot... there's a formula for figuring out what value of capacitor you should use but i'm going to have to search a little while to find it. hopefully that will get you started! ;D

Hello.
I've got over 500pcs new MOS 6581R4AR (Advanced Resonance) SIDs for sale.
over 500pcs??? hmmmm... i hate to be that guy but, i've heard way too many stories lately about so called "new R4's." i'd need some serious proof that 1. these exist, 2. they're authentic, and 3. that they actually are 100% functioning. i would also like to see some sort of feedback... i don't mean to be rude or antagonistic but you can never be TOO safe these days. i'd buy quite a few from you but i just don't see this panning out so well... :-X
[edit] here are some links to prove my point: http://kevtris.org/Projects/sid/remarked_sids.html

i'm also really tempted by this but i know if i bought it... i would be missing out on another great building experience! :D plus, it's most likely totally out of my price range atm. ::)
-
It's not a user project until there's some working pcb and/xor software for it :-)
oh. sorry. ;D
-
I have no idea.
They look like the right ones Buhler, but i never got an answer to my question.
I don't like purchasing stuff when im not shure.
But then again..they do look like the ones.
I would really like if somone with "AVR experience" could come and give us a pointer.
I needs to build it too dawg! 8)
i'm a good guesser... ;) i'll check this out and get back to you! i just thought that maybe you did some of the work already. we'll have to start a combined SwinSID build thread! ;D
-
I also gotta complete the filter and psu for my second spring reverb tank.
We'll see...i need a new job first! Oh..and don't forget the SwinSID. I already have the DAC's.
All i need now is the AVR's.
i'm curious about this spring reverb tank... do you have a link? i need to get going on the SwinSID as well. good luck with the Mb64! thanks again for the kind words!!

Congrats Buhler! Nice looking box ;D
thanks nILS! i'll be bugging you soon about me next project! ;)

Does your controller send "B0 xx 41" on clockwise encoder turns, and "B0 xx 3F" on anticlockwise turns?
Then I could easily add a function which allows to "emulate" the encoders of the MBSID CS (as I wrote: remote control)
The buttons should send MIDI controllers as well, e.g. "B0 xx 7F" if pressed, "B0 xx 00" if depressed.
MBSID won't be able to control external LEDs (the slow MIDI protocol would block the firmware too much)
Best Regards, Thorsten.
you would test this with MIOS, correct? i have an E-mu Xboard49 with 16 knobs that send cc messages to whatever MIDI device i have it plugged into. would this "emulation" you are talking about allow me (with my stepB CS) to control the stepC features via my MIDI controler?? sorry for the complicated question but it would be great if that is what you guys are talking about. ;D

very nice!! that's a great color for the case as well. i'm still deciding on whether i want to build one when my name comes up... do you think the x0xb0x would do well in a rock and roll setting?? congrats!! ;D
-
maybe the mods should move this to "user projects" or "design concepts" because i keep forgetting where it is... plus, we newbs may turn it into a new Mb project!! ;D
-
Buhler im absolutely loving that LCD display, its really green and bright.
You got it from here right?
Its a shame they dont have that colour in 20x4, im guessing OLED LCD's are that bit brighter ya?
Your mbsid is looking sweet, it looks like an extremely pimped up version of the inferior SidStation!
thanks smithy!!! yes that's the LCD. i love the LCD and as you may have read, if you ground the last four data pins, it works in 4 bit mode without any issues! it is a bit brighter than the PLEDs but the downside is there is no brightness adjustment options, at least i can't adjust it from the core... anyway, thanks for the kind words!! i actually have a SidStation and sort of used what i liked about it to make mine cooler!!! eventually i'm gonna get the face panel etched with a schweet design but that's a little ways down the road. ;D

Im hoping, if you ever do take filthy pics of the inside,
Please do post them here ;D ..I like insides.
Im curious B.
What are you planning on building next?
Cuz this stuff is addictive. ;D
well... i want to give the MbPOKEY that nILS has been working on a shot so i'm building 2 POKEY boards this week and hopefully that will work out. i also have plans to build the MbSEQv3 because i need a sequencer... then at some point, the MbFM and maybe a SwinSID or two and of course the Mb6582. ;D it is super addicting! what about you foona? i've seen you on a few lists... i may post a few pics of the insides at some point. i'll let you know.
-
Are these the right AVR's?
foona, did you ever find out about these AVR's? i want to build a SwinSID to replace the 2 sids i have in my C64 so i can use them in another MbSID!! :P ::)
-
thanks wilba!!! ;D i also really appreciate you clearing that LCD stuff up! i'm glad to know what was actually going on as well as what needed to be done if i did need to change the driver. thanks again wilba!!! ;D
-
Smooooooooth 8)
thank you my brotha foona!! 8) you helped me with it in your own foontastic ways!!
-
seattle you say? welcome to the emerald city then. ;D
Thanks t_xen!! i actually grew up there and then moved away about 8 years ago and am now moving back but anyhow, i just received my SIDs today!!! thanks wilba!!!

Here she is!!!! ;D
• 2 *matched* 6581's
• Pactec KEU-10 enclosure
• buttons and knob reclaimed from a 1993 Adcom GTP-450 receiver
• 2nd Midi out as well as Midi thru and In/Out led's
• step B CS
I'm so stoked!!! let me know what you guys think and/or if you guys have questions.
i would post pics of the inside but it's the most unholy thing i've ever seen. it's SUPER crowded inside that thing.
i was going for a retro sci-fi look as i said in a previous post so... i hope i captured that!! anyhow, thanks fellow midiboxers for the support!!!
[edit] i have a buddy who said he'd etch my CS for free, so that is one more step in the process but otherwise, IT'S FINISHED!!!
-
woah!!! :o i just started watching this today... this thing would free up 2 more SID chips for me to use in another Midibox!! no more SID2SID!! woohoo!
-
yeah, the Mb808 slipped well below my radar as well. i would really like to do something along the lines of an E-mu SP1200 (low bit sampler, sequencer, etc.)... but, i think i'll just stick with the MbSEQv3. i'll let you know about the x0xb0x foona.
-
..how about the "Sidhler" ;)
not bad... but i want something "retro sci-fi" like the original star trek or something... i should have pics up later today!!! that should help in naming it.
-
thanks for the relpies dudes! ;D i'm working on two POKEY boards right now, so i'll hopefully have them done this week. i'll be bugging you for some POKEY programming action soon nILS! :D
-
??? still no sign. was there anybody on the list that was in the US? ???
maybe I'm just starting to get impatient?
don't worry t_xen, i'm in the same boat. we can be paranoid americans together, ;D hopefully they get here before i move to Seattle next month!! :o :o
-
you guys make me unhappy with my setup.. :( maybe someday i can get enough room for some stuff like you guys have. when i post my MbSid pics i'll post a pic of my workspace so you guys can make fun of me. ;D i love the spider stryd!
[edit] are the 0.001% tolerance cut resister leads references a joke that i'm not getting ???
