If You must press slider realy hard to get any sound it You'll have to replace this fader. I think, you can try to resolder joints of this one first. Replaceing slider can't be to difficult, becouse it's exploitation part.

What the "CS" is? I've no LEDs connected, and have disconnected SID board. I'm using Commodore one, which provides 1.7A at 5V and 1A at 9V. It's possible, that I've somewhere short circuit, so It would be nice to know what happens in this moment, which pins and connectors are being probed/changed.

In Poland it costs not more then 2E and can be bought at several brand. I still have scars on my hands after screw which handle blade suddenly got broken. Most wonderfull tool I've ever seen.

Smaller or bigger one? In bigger ones there is just trafo and four diodes - it could be used to power midibox using low-drop pull-down voltage regulators (not 7805). In smaller ("fast" chargers) ones you can find voltage converter which is probably to noisy to audio equipment and couldn't be filtered enought.

Ok, LCD problem solved. E pin was partly disconnected in some way. On LCD interconnection test, after going out from E line test, LCD goes blank. After fixing second SID audio channel, I was going to check how this one sounds. Checked testtone - clear. If done SID interconnection test, i've lower volatages on A3 and A4 (3,5V, but I've uncalibrated multimeter...) , +5 at rest. Unfortunately when I'm trying to start MIDIboxSID app, it restarts on "Launching CS". Thanks for help ;) EDIT: Same without SIDs board. DSCN4166.JPG
