seppoman Posted February 23, 2008 Report Posted February 23, 2008 Hi,I've just bought a few transformers from pollin.de - that's a cheap surplus seller - and at the moment they're offering a transformer that is perfectly suited for e.g. MBFM PSUs and all AOUT/CV stuff:http://www.pollin.de/shop/shop.php?cf=detail.php&pg=OA==&a=Nzg1OTk2OTk=&w=ODkzOTc5&ts=0Input: 230 V~Outputs:- 8 V~/1,7 A- 13,6-0-13,6 V/0,6 A (center-tapped)- 4,2 V/0,15 ASize: 60x52x57 mm.I won't use the 4.2V, but 8V is a good start for the 5V rail and +/-13.6V center-tapped is perfect for a bipolar 12V supply. Both generating relatively few heat from the regulators. And now comes the best: The price is 1.95 Euro :DS
stryd_one Posted February 23, 2008 Report Posted February 23, 2008 Is the 8V enough to drive the rectifier and vreg? I've found that my cores like a fraction more than that... I generally give it 8.6 to be sure that it'll work...
Wilba Posted February 24, 2008 Report Posted February 24, 2008 I wish I had some German friends who could send some of these to me... :'(
stryd_one Posted February 24, 2008 Report Posted February 24, 2008 Isn't it lonely all the way down here with no friends and no cheap transformers ? :'(
nILS Posted February 24, 2008 Report Posted February 24, 2008 I just checked, pollin ships to Australia for 7EUR. Probably easier/cheaper if one of you guys just orders them directly - if you need help with the order lemme know.

Probably easier/cheaper if one of you guys just orders them directly - if you need help with the order lemme know. You heard the man.I'll PM you two, see if you want any.Any others from the tailpipe of the world, let me know if you are interested. Do this sooner than later, I won't wait long.
smaudio Posted June 16, 2008 Report Posted June 16, 2008 I don't expect you'd still have any of these left, tilted (or anyone else) by any chance?sm
Screaming_Rabbit Posted June 16, 2008 Report Posted June 16, 2008 I don't expect you'd still have any of these left, tilted (or anyone else) by any chance?sm ???... looks to me they're still available at pollin.http://www.pollin.de/shop/shop.php?cf=detail.php&pg=OA==&a=Nzg1OTk2OTk=&w=ODkzOTc5&ts=0
nILS Posted June 16, 2008 Report Posted June 16, 2008 My guess would be that smaudio is in Australia as well -> less shipping if he gets one from the locals :-)
/tilted/ Posted June 17, 2008 Report Posted June 17, 2008 Is this true smaudio? Are you also from the planet's posterior? We may be able to help. Of course if you're from anywhere but Australia/NZ or close, you'd be better off dealing direct with pollin.de
fluke Posted June 17, 2008 Report Posted June 17, 2008 I'm in NZ and pollin.de quoted me €22 + €3/kg for shipping. How did you get a rate of €7 to Australia? (Was it actually the rate to Austria instead? :) )
Wilba Posted June 17, 2008 Report Posted June 17, 2008 As usual, I'm probably overstocked on these transformers, so can spare one to someone in Australia or NZ, when I actually can be bothered driving over to /tilted/'s place to pick up mine. ;D
smaudio Posted June 17, 2008 Report Posted June 17, 2008 Hey guys,no, I'm in London lol I've had a look at pollin's website but I can't find anything in English (!) do these guys speak english? How did you contact them about posting to australia, I presume that means that they should post to UK too?
/tilted/ Posted June 18, 2008 Report Posted June 18, 2008 I made the initial order in deutsch.Subsequent communication was in english.I think they were on to the fact that mein Deutsches ist schisse. ::) - It's true - ask anybody!!
SLP Posted June 25, 2008 Report Posted June 25, 2008 I think they were on to the fact that mein Deutsches ist schisse. ::) - It's true - ask anybody!!yep. it is. ;DI think I should better improve my poor english instead of laughing about other people speaking german as a foreign language...

(Was it actually the rate to Austria instead? :) )Actually, we didn't.We got quite a few of these between the 3 of us, and shipping still cost more than the trafos themselves.Average cost (incl. shipping) was around €4.80 a piece.Of course, if you buy fewer, the postage is relatively higher etc...
