Is a MB+ really easier to build?

Is the use of MIOS really worth the extra trouble?

I want to have the gighest success rate possible but I don't want to regret not using the MBHP in the first place :)

Any advice?

MIOS -> 18f452

so you can start with the pic16f877, and then move on with a 18f452, the only thing to change will be the firmware!!!

And I don't think it's easier to build : it's the same! but with the 16f877 if you don't build the JDM, you will not be able to change the firmaware... with the 18f you can upload the program with sysex!

do the mb16e support the pic18f462?

what would be the advantages of using the pic16f877 in that case?

Not having to build the programmer sounds nice to me too

Hi it's me being lost again!

questions:

-I think this already has been answered but I'm somehow still confused because of information contained on the site: Can I use the pic18f with the midibox16E or not?

-Can I build a MB16E with "normal" pots instead of rotary encoders? (don't feel I'll be able to do the ledring and I wanted to use faders...)

That's about it... for now :) TIA

What you can do is build the MB64,  you can use this with as few pots and buttons as you need.  For e3xample the MB+ can be realized with the MB64 design.  Just use one core, one din, one ain, one LTC.  The ltc is optional.  Then you wouild use 16 pots, 8 buttons.  Or you could use 32 pots and 32 buttons, do you get my drift.  Just don't forget to clamp all unused ain inputs to ground.

Hmm ok I'll try to make it clearer :)

What I want to do is the exact design of the MB+ (8 pots + 8 faders + 8 buttons)

BUT :)

I am getting a marvelous free core module I would like to use...

AND :)

I would like to be able to upgrade while keeping my current hardware...

In this case, would I build a Custom MB64 or something else?

Thanks for your time, it means a lot  for me :)

Just to be sure: Is the mb64 design compatible with:

-Pic18f

-MIOS

?

Also will I have to build the JDM programmer board?

TIA!

(I hope my questions are not too stupid hehe)

Thanks! That clears it up :)

I'm going to go mb64 with the pic16f and I'll just upgrade when needed (just need to change crystal and pic right?)

Thanks again
